Strait up past the Old Port next to the Kiosk opposite the jewellers and with your back to sea on the right of the Kiosk. |

| now if i thought i was being stitched up on the bill. i would casualy keep mentioning the "mafeeah" mafia. in whispers at the table.( they may say "it;s on the house") or look at the bill and just mention "touristi astinomiah" tourist police. it's not unknown to put the locals drink on your bill.i know this,!!! as my drinks use to be put on the bill of people who had had their fill of drinks, so i paid nothing. it's true. mind you this was years ago when i use to do greek dancing for the taverna with two male dancers dressed in their red cumabands,oh happy days. and it was nothing to find that just after midnight, six gestapo (dressed in black leather jackets and briefcases)would rush in without notice and take over the till ,take out the till rolls, and inspect the books, they would go through every scrap of paper, while the taverna owner sat outsidewith a very worried look on his face.this inspection of books would take around two hours. |

| Patsy that happened in a taverna in Moratica Corfu when we were in having a few drinks ,the bar man rushed round putting reciepts on the tables just before they walked in . They were the oddest looking officals all their papers were in a plastic carrier bag.I think the owner got away with a ticking off. |

A couple of years ago, myself and gaffer, had a meal in old port fish restaurant, overlooking the harbour. I chose the fish and it duly came, well presented, bit's of orange and such like jammed in it. The waiter took it off the bone and put it on our plates. While this was happening,a couple of young girls (well to me they were) were paying for a lobster meal,it came to £45, I don't think they expected any price like that. We were saying how sorry we felt for them,as it really looked like it had nearly broke them for the evening.
Anyway,we finished our fish, which I had to say was delicious, asked for the bill,£62. Was a good job we'd just changed some money, needless to say,the misses wasn't best pleased, definitely no tip,and no further custom |

Didn't you query it? In most tavernas we were paying 50-60c for a ½L water, including around the harbour. Sadly I cannot find the receipts from any of those, but certainly, our lunch at Meteora, (in my opinion, one of the best eateries along that row), was perfectly reasonable. _________________ Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream.

| if you notice a greek man will always study the bill carefully. the waiter must have got the bills mixed up. |
