They look nice examples of the Lancia's there Merlin..
I had a 16v Evolution for a while, found very little to match it on roadholding performance for a road car before or since, top machines deserved more credit than they got.
You should take one down to Skiathos one day, maybe for a little record attempt about 4am when the road is empty to see if you can beat the best taxi record run from Skiathos Town to Kouks... _________________ http://www.pro-tecmotorsport.com |

We drove the red 8v from Switzerland to the French side of the channel tunnel at a constant 220 kph and not knowing the car at all. Well actually my son drove the car while I looked out for service stations as we were eating up petrol at an alarming rate.
The only other car to pass us that night was a red Ferrari and he passed us like we were standing still, I remember thinking it was like our own little gum ball rally in the middle of the night.
Off course the 16v valve is newer it’s only 10 years old and with less than one years average mileage, but it’s great fun to drive being a little more developed. Even a traffic cop become sympathetic when he stopped me for speeding letting me of with a warning and a producer. I was well over 100 mph at times and I think his unmarked Saab had problems keeping up with me especially through the twisty stuff but secretly I think he quite enjoyed the chase and no harm was done.
I know it’s a little irresponsible but it’s not your average daily drive and I was on a well know road in a car that felt like the most comfortable shoes you have ever owned and the blood racing through my veins,
Well that’s enough about my toys and I will let you all get back to more important holiday related issue.

Ahh,the old Yamaha chappy.I remember them well, and I recall some sort of manual gear shift on the left for when you came to a hill. _________________ www.perigiali-skiathos.com

Good memory skills Darrell, they had a little lever which you could swith to foward, neutral and reverse, why you would ever need a reverse on one im not sure?? although i did manage to snap mine off whilst at the garage near bus stop 3 and had to push it all the way back up the hill stuck in gear to the Acropoli (Sweaty)
The basket on the back is an essential to stop your passenger falling off whilst doing a power wheely's. |
