Well here's my report for what its worth
Delayed 1h30m at MCR (greek airtrafic control wouldn't give clearance)
For two whole weeks we did nowt.
Well that's not entirely true we did read 3or4 books each and vegged out round the pool a bit but during the daytime we just had a realy relaxing time.
spent about 3 hours each Friday at the Amaretto taverna at the end of the runway watching the planes (i know its a bit sad) but it is right next door to our apts The Blue Dolphin. Which were very good, clean and spacious .Towels and linen etc was changed every 2-3 days. The bar was OK , it closed at 7 .
We went down to Kanapitsa beach on the bus with intention of having lunch then catching the boat back to town, but the next boat was 12.20 and the one after 3.20 and taverna wasn't open till 12 so we just got the 12.20 and lunched in town.
We found a great small coffe shop down on the new harbour.
Gerani was our last stop nearly every night , thanks to Marriana and Lena for such a good time.
We had some very good food this year in noparticular order we ate at:
Primavera good pasta and Pizza but had a bit of a wait for our main course about 30mins
Gave the Scuna another go but it turned out to be a bad decision . IT was the worst meal we had , if you can make a chicken pasta dish and get it to the table in 3 mins from ordering there has got to be a ping somewhere.
Tasted like the chicken had been recooked .
Paraxenos which is just opposite the Bonapart , very good . Lamb skank yum yum, Chicken with pesto and pine nuts very yum yum.
Asprolithos again very good.
One that means Crab in Greek just opposite the ferry dock ,we enjoyed so much we went twice.
Also went to Agia Paraskevi to the Green Park the Mesostrato, and Platanias all 3 were very good.
As i said most of the daytime was spent doing nothing , the only drawback with the position of the Blue Dolphin is its a good 20 min walk to the supermarket and the water gets heavy after a while in 40c heat .
Will post some pics later
Finally the meeting of the Boomerangers what a night . It was nice to put faces to names and make some new friends .
We ended up in the Chocolate Bar with Ian and his wife (sorry Ian i forgot her name) Sue & Darrel . Sue's a nutter who doesn't stop talking (Darrel you must put up with a lot mate )
We left at 3,30 and they stayed till chucking out time .
We had a great time and i would like to thank Magda for such good food and Geoff (hope your recovery continues well) for the wine .
Also Guy Pettigrew for the donation sorry you couldnt make it. |
