Wow - that was quick.... well I'm up for contributing. Any questions welcome! For those who don't know, my plans are as follows:-
Been thinking of moving to Greece for about 10 years! Been planning to move to Skiathos for about 5!
Originally wanted to sell up in the UK and buy a property on the island, but after long thoughts decided it was better for my husband and I to buy a business initially so that we have decent jobs out there (too young to retire!).
That is moving forward - more details once plans are finalised.
Buying a business won't leave us enough money to buy a house straight away - so that will have to wait for a good few years now.
In the meantime we are going to rent long term... that has been hard as we have two dogs, so as you can imagine finding a suitable place for them has been our priority.
We are now at the point where our house in the UK is being rented out from Summer 08, and we plan to move to Skiathos in April.
Hurdles so far have been
1) how to get us and the dogs and some of our personal kit out there (plan: possibly buy a camper van)
2) what to do with the camper van once out there (plan: check out the registration issues before we buy one!)
3) which business to buy (plan: all are risky but as suggested on other forums, you get out what you put in)
4) we are yet to get over all of the other hurdles such as resident permits, tax issues, legal stuff etc etc - will keep you posted as we work through it.
Look forward to seeing this forum take off!

| Hi. If it of any interest I have a 42ft trailer coming to the island from the UK due here April 1st. We will have some space available to buy. It will be picking up in North Wiltshire & just outside Manchester before leaving around the third week of March. |

Hi SteveandKimbo
Definitely interested ... can you let me have more details, such as space available and rough prices? We are in Leicestershire so easy for pick up between Wiltshire and Manchester. PM me if you don't want the prices on the the forum. Speak soon, Bee. |
