Hello to everyone out there
Just booked ourselves 2 weeks in Skiathos in July. We're going to Achladies and staying in the Achladies beach villa which is apparently only 15 metres from the beach. Can't wait.
Looking for tips from all the Skiathos experts out there, where to go, where to eat, fun stuff to do and of course any views on Achladies itself
We've been to Greece many times, Kefalonia twice last year and before that Crete, Lesvos, Zachynthos, Rhodes and Corfu. We know the ropes and we love Greece - my wife is learning the language at O'level.
Any responses gratefully received. |

Acheladies is lovely, we stayed there end of Sept 07 and had a great time, the weather was good and it is very close to Skiathos town by bus. Here are some piccies of the beach and water taxi which goes to Skiathos town daily. There are also some lovely tavernas on the beach. Don't have any information about where you are staying but try and find the Filokalia apartments as there is a very nice english lady called Shellina who runs the pool bar and will cook you a very nice breakfast.

I stayed at Achladies in 1994 on my first ever visit to Skiathos and was smitten! It's a gorgeous beach! Definitely take the water taxi into town in the evening - the views of town are lovely. I had a quite superb long lunch at Rose Garden last year - loads of locals were eating their Sunday lunch - a good sign. Whatever you do - visit other parts of the island - it's beautiful. Good luck to your wife with learning the language - I am too (slowly - my teacher is on mat leave)
