This may be a silly question - but are "mobile" air conditioning units (ie the ones that have a hose and you can move around, rather than the large split ones built into walls) easy and cheap to get hold of in Skiathos?
We want to get one in case the cottage we are renting in the hills gets too hot in the height of season - as it hasn't got air-con...
You can pick them up for 150 quid in England - but would rather get one there to save over-filling our camper if similar can easily be bought.
Any advice would be welcomed...

Thanks Tezza - I appreciate it. Didn't think anyone was gonna comment on my boring subject of air-con... I'll pick something more interesting next time I post!
Cheers, Bee. |

If space is a problem, you still have approx a week 2 order & arrange delivery on the wagon, see 'Goods Shipment To Skiathos' thread further down this forum. Drop Steve a pm, he'll be happy 2 help! _________________ για μας; |

hi, the mobile devices are not very good, as the don't cool good enough and with the summer temperatures you need something stronger.
The split ones transport the heat outside and the mobile don't. I don't know how the work, but I was told that they're not sufficent.
And split ones (9000 BTU = suffcient for regular sleeping room) start from 350 € (mainland Greece prices). The installation shouldn't be more than 100 €, but if you buy them at store who does the installiation, they'll give you a better deal for their work.
Mobile ones are not really cheaper! If you like to buy them, try PRAKTIKER at Volos. |

Hi Bernd - thanks for the info - that is really useful.
The mobile ones I've been looking at have a hose which you place through window/wall to expel the hot air - but I do realise they won't be as good as a proper split unit one.
However, I was told that the split units cost over 1000euros - so if the prices you've mentioned are correct, we should be ok...
I would much rather get proper air con installed I must admit - I've found the website for Praktiker - so I'll have a look.
Thanks - Bee. |

| The prices for a/c are dropping all the time, Carrefour did a system(Inside and out)for 180 euros last year....I think this may have been a mistake though but you can buy them today in Marinopoulos on the island for 350. |
