Great trip, everything went like clockwork for the journeys both ways. No major delays or problems. The weather was lovely about 20 degrees during the best part of the day and only one day overcast. Lots of frappes on the old harbour and leisurely lunches.
Tuesday the 25th was Greek Independence Day and the whole of the island's inhabitants came to a parade and dancing display along the waterfront. All the locals wore their Sunday best and the children either marched in school uniform or national dress. It was even busier than high season and we've never seen as many locals all at once. The day was really sunny but there was a high wind and the water was crashing onto the Paralia. All the restaurants were full for lunch.
Met all our usual friends and briefly met Yvonne and also Sue, never got the chance to meet again as we had Kev's parents with us, but hopefully we will next time.
Sorted out our tax return, thanks as always to Geof's help, and think we've sorted all the money laundering paperwork out for the bank.
Zak actually went in the sea a couple of times although we only paddled. It's amazing how beautiful all the beaches are without sunbeds etc. We even went to Koukounaries which we hate in Summer.
Went to the dog sanctuary and were lucky to walk two lovely 3 month old puppies, they were soooo cute. Apparently the mother has had large litters before and the owners had promised to have her spayed but didn't. We didn't buy any bottled water but drank the spring water from under Agios Taxiarchis, it's really good.
There were a few power cuts because of the strikes and on the first Wednesday there was a national stike and everything shut down. The government are trying to rationalise the pension system and it's not going down to well. Depending on your profession you get different amounts and they are trying to even it out and raise retirement ages.
Had some great meals at Limonaki and a really special one at the tennis club.
Filmed the sunset at Aghia Eleni on one special evening, it will have to keep us going until our next trip.
We so wish we could be there more and so admire the Brits that have just done it. It gets harder to leave every trip.
