Hi all,
Have got some time on my hands so I thought I would put down a few more things detailing what we have been upto lately.
The weather has been a bit unpredictable of late,it seems to have been like this since Uncle Micheal arrived last week.Due to strike action by Olympic Airways his flight here was cancelled so he had to hot-foot it up to Volos. He stayed at the aformentioned Hotel Jason and got the Vodaphone boat on Thursday morning,we had to meet him at the godawful time of 9.30am.He is settling in really well and has been catching up with all his old posse.
Last Sunday we all went down to Assellinos to see the moto-cross race.It was a very well organised affair with lots of guys coming over from the mainland to participate.A local guy won witch is also good.We then sat on the beach and had a nice windswept pic-nic.
On Tuesday was the Independance day parade. All of the school-kids marched along the old port with bands and older ladies wearing their traditional Greek clothing. We went local and had our lunch in Kabourelia.I bumped into the mayor who I have known for years and he invited us up to his house for coffee.
Sophia's potty training is coming on well. Why am I putting this you may ask? Well, the reason is that she must be dry before she goes to kindergarten. She is due to start in May so we have to do this asap.
Claire's mum and step dad are starting to enjoy their new life here,I think her mum found it a little hard at first with the boredom bit but they are now regular fixtures at the fitness spa and her step dad has got a job starting next month. They have aquired two mountain bikes from our landlord and can be regularly seen riding around town. They even rode to Asselinnos last Sunday.
I have bought a little scooter,it pales into significance compared to what I have tucked away back in the UK but this is Skiathos and when in Rome....well you know the rest.I have fastened a beer crate to the back for our shopping and we now make little journeys into town riding in true Greek style (Sophia up front with Claire riding pillion)
The studios are looking nice and soon I will put up my big new sign and flag-poles so look out for them in your summer trips to Kouk.
On Monday it is my birthday,I will be 41.We have 11 people coming over for dinner. The table consists of English,Greeks a Macedonian and a Swede.Claire is cooking roast beef and yorkie puds.not my plan but thats what all our guests wanted. It promises to be a good night.
We have now got broadband at home, basically we have got a little device that plugs into my laptop that works like a mobile phone signal.I can now get on the internet anywhere, even sitting on the bog!!!.
The device gives us a certain time allowance per month and cost 30eu each month. It is cheaper than the internet cafe and also I can check out the UK news and of course i can see how the Gunners are doing!.
The island is now a hive of activity, people are painting everything that doesn't move. The Stellina is taking shape and the Alkyon bathrooms are almost done.Claire is longing for a bath soo badly she is going to pop over there soon with a bottle of champagne and some radox ( for the afternoon).Blue bar and the one next door are open on the old port and there has been major work at Jimmys bar.Opposite the bus terminal there was a gap between 2 buildings that was a huge lump of rock. This has now been chopped out and the shuttering carpenters are getting ready for a big pour in the next few days ( once a builder always a builder).
Anyway guys I must go now.The clocks go forward here too and tommorrow is my turn for getting up with Sophia. It is now 1am so that means 2am and I haven't even had my ouzo nightcap yet.
Till next time

Darrell
My husband Matt is very interested in the Ducati 998 you have back in the UK. Would you be interested in selling it? He might also be interested in the GSXR600 for use as a track day bike.
Would you be willing to part exchange it with a rusty Suzuki 110cc scooter in metalic blue - one careful owner - forced gift due to financial irregularities and escape to the sun. |
