With all due respect to the Monarch flights.
There appears to be alot of negative feedback re their flights. I must point out that there are at least 2 Monarch flights coming in here to Skiathos.
Olympic Holidays have 2 flights with Monarch, the MON 7186 from Manchester that has been on time every Friday this season apart from a 20 minute delay on 26/6/09 and the MON 1548 from Gatwick that was delayed by 17 hours due to a bird strike on the first arrival day and just 2 x 2 hour delays as so far.
2 weeks ago the LGW flight was 45 mins early and the MAN flight was 30 mins early yet no-one seems to have mentioned that fact so far, maybe us Brits like to talk about things when they go pear shaped but forget to mention the good times.....food for thought!! |

Can I also add that our 2 flights are both 757's which fly back directly to the UK with no stop-offs on the Greek mainland for a re-fuel.
I hope this clears things up. |

Point taken Darrell.
Our Monarch flight Skiathos to Manchester three weeks ago left 30 minutes early and the ticket price was my bargain of the year
Our last two trips to the Canaries were with Monarch...on time...no complaints...spot on for me |

To be fair though, people aren't going to know about the flights that left on time. They can only comment on their own flight & if it was delayed then they're bound to have a moan.
Think I've only flown with Monarch once (might have been to Spain) and I think there were no problems. Had loads of delays to Skiathos with XL though |

Foxy, thats what I am getting at.
We only hear of the delays, these are far outnumbered by the on-time flights.
Can we not have a "big up" for the flights that come in early or on time, or is this against our British mentality. |

I was lucky enough to be on the Manchester flight that Darrell mentioned. It was early and it was a good flight both ways.
I always speak as I find!!!! |

In response to Suejet. I only had 10 mins with K so cant comment on what you all mean really He's a sweetie I only just recognised him but he pretended he wasnt K. After quite a lot of wine I wasnt quite sure myself. But he was the only person to say Hello Christine and not Hello Diamond throughout the entire holiday. I would love to spend more time with him and catch up in the future but it was his last evening on the island.
In response to Darrell. I agree, we do only ever mention delays and problems as I suppose if we are on time we dont think about a thing except that we are off on our holiday Do you work for Monarch now at the airport Darrell? I can only find flights with them for September at the moment but they are very expensive and wonder why all other airlines are fully booked. You say they fly direct, but from Gatwick we stopped at Volos on the way out and the flight I am looking at in September does the same. It would be nice to think it flew direct. |

Great review Christine, thanks for that! It's a shame we didn't manage to arrange a meet when i was over on Skopelos on your second week. If you do manage to get back in September we will have to sort something out then. I'll be out for 2 weeks from 11th. _________________ http://www.ionian-island.co.uk |

Lovely report Chris!! I am so sorry that we didn't meet - there will most certainly be another time. Your trip report was a blessed, cooling wash (that brought on a tidal wave of homesickness!) to read last night, upon my returning home from a 3 day music festival, 3 and nights of dust and over 100 degree F days. Ah... Skiathos. It sounds like your time was fantastic, your report was sooo vibrant. I look forward to meeting up with you when our stars cross! Next June. perhaps!

Flew back with Monarch last night ( 2nd time in 12 months ) ,flight was delayed two and half hours .
Checked in as morm then walked down to the taverna at the end of runway and had a couple of beers and a meal .
I look on it as a free extension to my holiday .
Flying again with Mornach again in Aug ( to Turkey -- there I said it )
This was our 10th trip , we missed last year and within a couple of days I felt things had changed a little , by the end of the week all I can put it down to is that things are changing along with the times ( for times they are a changing ) like everywhere else .
I left feeling we will return again( not sure when ) as we get the same warm welcome from the locals who remember us each time we visit .
Benbow Elaine if you read this I am sorry we didn't get to say goodbye on our last night as we hoped reason being we had to much to eat at Giannis taverna ( they just kept on bringing more ) went back to apts to change shirt -------- and fell asleep .
Thanks for the laughs .
