These flowers turn their heads to follow the suns path across the sky. In the Craft we use sunflowers to mark the entrence to the circle and as decoration on a summer altar. Use them any time you are working Sun magic. Sunflowers have long been associated with good luck. They attract birds and bees and beneficial wildlife to our yards and gardens. Their presence is is believed to draw the Suns energy into our homes and gardens. Cut a sunflower head at sunset and make a wish and, if it is small enough, it will come to pass before the next sunset. Put a sachet of seeds under your pillow to learn the truth of a matter. |

Nice one! I wish I could get sunflowers to grow. I've started them from seeds two years in a row. They did fine when I was starting them out, but once I tried to transfer them outside? DEAD ;_; I'm going to try again next year! |

Don't give up on them, they are so fun to grow. I have also found them difficult to transplant. Your best bet is just to pick the spot where you want the, dig down about 6" and build a small birm around the hole to hold water, (sunflowers like lots of water) and just direct seed them into the ground. I usually put 2-3 seed per hole to be sure of germination and then thin to the best one after they are up 10" or so. Keep trying!!! and good luck. |

I'll definitely take your advice and try it that way next year! I want some pretty sunflowers. |
