Background - Killian is a former marine, having recently retired from the Duke's Navy. An accomplished sailor and fighter, he was respected by his peers, many of which visit his new establishment. Killian has a rich history of naval adventure and will often relate such stories over a pint of ale offered up by any patrons. Legend has it he managed to command his subordinate marines to ward off a trio of pirate ships without allowing them a chance at grappling or boarding the lone Karameikos vessel, all while manning a ballista in the forecastle. Despite his preference for the sword, Killian knows full well the advantage of ranged weaponry which prevents unsheathing said preferred weaponry.

After mustering out he acquired the Highreach Wharf, a tavern located in Trader's Corridor just outside Specularum's walls. The tavern has only been reopened for two months now, and Killian seems to be enjoying the civilian life. Being located outside the city walls, there is room for less-than-honest business. While Killian could care less about what transpires between patrons, he simply does not tolerate violence within his establishment.

To this end he quickly established a reputation for taking care of such bad business, having no qualms about stepping in and cracking heads when need be. So far the local constables have not been needed, those thrown out do not wish to draw such attention to themselves and those casual observers inside respect Britmoll's sense of "order".

As such, the Highreach Wharf has become a reputable place to gather for business ventures and downtime pleasures alike. Merchants and transients alike flow in and out, and any foolish enough to attract the attention of the establishment's owner will quickly discover how well he handles a sword and crossbow.

To this end, Killian routinely keeps several loaded heavy crossbows behind the bar...not to mention his trusty companion (a bastard sword) slung over his shoulder, which he is able to utilize single handedly with two-handed effectiveness due to his gainly dimensions.

Backgrounds - Kara and Jeti are apprentices under the Wizard's Guild of Specularum, working under the employ of Killian in the Highreach Wharf as barmaids while studying under their master. So far their master has not called upon them for service or assistance in adventure, and Killian certainly enjoys their magical assistance in times of "curbing detail".

Both are quite friendly and sociable, not to mention attentive. They know to dart behind the bar when trouble breaks out, and are often quick to recognize said trouble before it happens.
