Both TVB's "Dicey Business" and ATV's "No Turning Back" will be aired on Monday, November 20th. Which series will win this ratings battle? Only one series will be the ratings king!

Bobby Au Yeung and Michael Miu are arch enemies. Jessica Hsuan and Michael are in are in a relationship. Michael teaches Bosco Wong gambling skills, while Bosco is Bobby's long-lost brother! Tavia Yeung and Bosco are in love.

Deannie Yip is Patrick Tam and Lulu Ng's foster mother. Hawick Lau is Deannie's son, while Patrick and Hawick are good friends. Amy Kwok and Partick are married to each other.
Must Watch Reasons
Family battles and revenge story arcs, innocent deaths and downfalls, etc. have always been the secret weapon behind long-running dramas. TVB's "Dicey Business" and ATV's "No Turning Back" share many similiarities and with the crossover of ex-TVB artists to ATV, if you switch the channel by mistake, you may even think you are watching the same series!
Reason #1: Focus on Brotherhood
In "No Turning Back," elder "brother" Patrick Tam has always been outsmarted by Hawick Lau, even to the point where Patrick lands in jail due to Hawick's manipulative means. In the end, Patrick is forced to take extreme measures to seek revenge.
In "Dicey Business," Bobby Au Yeung found his lost brother, Bosco Wong, after many years of separation. Since Bosco has a talent for gambling, he becomes a tool used by Bobby's arch enemy, Michael Miu. A showdown between Bosco and Bobby takes place at the gambling table to settle their issues....
Reason #2: Leading Actresses Bet their All
In TVB's 39th Anniversary, there was a fierce battle in the Best Actress Award. But when it comes to audience's favorites, it still remains Jessica Hsuan. One of the reasons why audiences may look forward to "Dicey Business" is because of Jessica's draw.
"No Turning Back" doesn't have a weak cast either. Leading female actresses include the rare combination of Deannie Yip and Amy Kwok, both skilled actresses. Deannie said the reason she returned to act in a TV series after a 7 year lapse is due to the series' remarkable script!
Reason #3: Refreshing Villians
In a grand production, many actors will often fight to take the villian role, as they become hot topics of conversation and take the center of attention! In "No Turning Back," the often sweet Hawick Lau plays the villian, who causes the death of all his family members.
Aside from the young Hawick trying to break new ground, even veternan Michael Miu steps up to play the villian in "Dicey Business." Not only does Michael cause Bobby's downfall, but he also pits brothers Bobby and Bosco against even other, resulting in a gambling showdown!
Reason #4: Young Actresses Trying to Break Through
With such strong established actors in both series, it is not easy for the younger generation to break through. Even if they can't act as villians, perhaps they can act as the most pitiful one. In "No Turning Back," Lulu Ng plays Patrick Tam's younger sister. After Lulu is raped by Gabriel Harrison, she loses her wits and becomes delusional.
In "Dicey Business," Tavia Yeung plays a gold-digger, who gets breast implants to enter a beauty pageant. This plays right along the trend of cosmetic-surgery enhanced candidates we often see in the Miss Hong Kong and Miss Asia beauty pageants nowadays!
In the past, TVB's anniversary series was usually 30-40 episodes long, but this year it broadcast the 20 episode "To Grow with Love." However, the ratings have only been mediocre, perhaps it was not worth all the weight Myolie Wu gained for the role?
Eager to boost ratings, TVB quickly decided to broadcast ratings guarantor Bobby Au Yeung and Jessica Hsuan's "Dicey Business." But ATV decided to broadcast "No Turning Back" in the same time slot, obviously challenging the competition head on. In Hong Kong, you can only watch 1 out of the 2 series. Which one will you choose to watch?

熱鬧壯勢的無線台慶活動舉行過後，是時候將宣傳焦點集中在重頭劇集方面，以賭場激鬥與人性衝突為主題的《賭場風雲》，緊接《肥田囍事》的九點半檔期播映，與亞視的《義無反顧》硬碰。
以卡士、戲橋與製作成本而言，《賭場風雲》是介乎B級上檔到A級下檔的劇製，選以台慶月第二檔期會眾，是攻劇策略，也可見無線對此劇具備一定信心。
以賭為主題的製作，向來有相當的收視保證，《千王》系列是無線的經典，縱觀這部《賭場風雲》的卡士配搭，又非動用型男美女的金裝組合，破格選以步入中生範疇的苗僑偉，與性格演員歐陽震華掛帥，還有寂靜好一陣子的宣萱，這度鐵三角頗有新鮮感，尤其首度創新戲路扮演爛賭成癖的宣萱，她是視為進級的挑戰，再配以黃宗澤與楊怡做綠葉，連幕前宣傳片頭都流於平面而寫實，非標榜石破天驚的廝殺混戰，以劇情的進展，也是有層次的廿年時空著墨，並非過分誇張富貴起落的越空驟變。
明顯可見，無線是從《火舞黃沙》與《匯通天下》汲取到教訓，要是刻意包裝的磅礴氣勢與單調平板的劇情不成正比，無疑落得雷大雨小的「欺場」之虞，就以這兩劇的口碑與收視，確令無線失預算。以戲論戲，倒是原被列為B級類別的《女人唔易做》及《愛情全保》還收好評。
《賭場風雲》另一試點，是畀機會實力派演員開拓戲路，歐陽震華演技固然多面化，步入中年的苗僑偉更珍惜自己在視壇的第二春，多年前已穩坐一級旦角席位的宣萱，是時候創新戲路，她演繹的爛賭女人角色是收放自如全情投入。
《賭場風雲》硬碰《義無反顧》，淨睇牌面應不會輸，但也不容輕敵，畢竟葉德嫻與譚耀文這對金牌母子福將，早年憑《縱橫四海》已為亞視贏得漂亮一仗，譚耀文與郭藹明合演的外拍劇《方德與苗翠花》成績尚可。這對配搭也培育相當的默契。
倒戈相向的劉愷威與劉綽琪，加埋曾江、羅家英、潘志文與鮑起靜這夥膽拖甘草，如果整體劇情是處理得明快利落，理應成為亞視○六年的代表作。
劉愷威是躊躇滿志跳槽亞視，希望打開新的一頁，畢竟兩台機制不同，加上亞視自製劇平均產量不多，要在亞視力圖有更大的發展空間，劉愷威還待時間的適應與努力。反過來說，亞視真要善用有潛質的外援以補不足，能歌擅演的劉愷威，有的是拚勁，盼在亞視真有用武之地。
臨近年尾，理論上兩台確要拍出有睇頭的節目，以吸引客戶與觀眾，也得要為承接來年好開始造勢，論人力物力，無線要憑《賭》劇起風雲又何難，有籌碼在手又有熟客撐場是好辦事。對於亞視，這一役是全力以赴，得失成敗也「義無反顧」，關乎調遣對弈之道，繼往開來，總不必長期處於捱打局面。

【明報專訊】無铫《賭場風雲》與亞視《義無反顧》上周同時段首播，《賭》劇平均收視30點，比《肥田》跌2點，流失觀眾接近13萬；亞視重頭劇《義無反顧》接《白色巨塔》播映，收視「勁」升，因為《白》劇的平均收視僅2點，《義無反顧》雖只有平均4點收視，約26萬人次，但升幅已足足1倍。不過，亞視周一至五的三線劇集中，收視最高是《盲俠金魚飛天豬》，平均收視5點，最高6點收視，約38萬觀眾。肥姐主持的《友緣相聚》上周首播，平均收視24點，最高28 點，比對上一星期同時段節目收視跌1點。

亚视的年度重头剧集《义无反顾》上周首播，明星阵容不小，有谭耀文、郭蔼明、叶德娴、曾江等；而无线则以拥有欧阳震华、宣萱、苗侨伟等实力派演员坐镇的《赌场风云》迎战。一周过去了，记者昨日获悉，《赌场风云》平均收视30点，大胜收视只有3.6的《义无反顾》。《义》剧监制刘国辉在电话里坦言“有一点失望”，但强调“好戏在后头”。
《赌场风云》请出“福将”救场
《义无反顾》是亚视的“野心之作”，制作严谨又下足血本投资，而无线刚播完的《肥田喜事》既不叫好也不叫座，正处于一个尴尬局面，因此业界不少人认为亚视很有希望打一个“翻身仗”———但是无线非常聪明地及时推出《赌场风云》，主演是被誉为无线福将的欧阳震华和宣萱，两人号召力果然不俗，该剧平均收视达30点。
已一年多没有在荧屏出现的宣萱成为观众讨论的焦点，宣萱过去在荧屏上大多是扮演律师类的“女强人”，但在《赌》片里她彻底颠覆形象，变成一个“烂赌婆”，属于地道的“草根阶层”。她的这次转变让不少人赞不绝口，“无线也许不缺美女，也不缺演技好的花旦，但是却没有一个演员像宣萱那样，宜古宜今、动静皆宜。”
除了宣萱，剧中的其他主要演员如欧阳震华、苗侨伟、黄宗泽都有不同程度上的形象突破———苗侨伟扮奸角；欧阳震华穿短裤，顶着个肥肚腩，不惜牺牲形象；黄宗泽玩自闭，浑身邋遢如同流浪汉……这些变化都被观众所称道，认为很有新鲜感。
除了演员出色外，有香港业内人士还表示，《赌场风云》的题材非常讨巧———“赌片”向来在香港十分有市场，加上近来“赌片”近乎绝迹，无线这次推出《赌场风云》，可谓恰到好处，不会让人觉得腻烦。
《义无反顾》败给“惯性收视”
面对3.6的收视成绩，《义无反顾》监制刘国辉说：“对于这样一部剧来说，我当然是感到有一点失望。不过之前同一时间播出的那部剧集收视才2点，证明已有多了一倍的观众在看。香港人的惯性收视就是这样，希望下周的成绩更好。”《义无反顾》之后还有什么卖点呢？刘国辉透露，谭耀文和刘恺威兄弟出现摩擦，刘恺威逐渐变“奸”，为上位不择手段；吴亭欣和刘恺威之间出现了“第三者”海俊杰；谭耀文遇上刘绰琪，渐生情愫，郭蔼明只能将对谭的感情放在心底，这些情节都会为剧集增添戏剧张力。“《义无反顾》是一部40集的剧情片，一路铺开情节，观众会投入进去。”
网友对于《义无反顾》大多持肯定态度，对它收视不好也“早有所料”：“它绝对够分量和无线打对台，吃亏就吃亏在香港观众的惯性收视。”还有观众强调这种“惯性”对亚视很不公平：“这几年我眼见亚视一直都有好的电视剧出来，但香港人都不重视，只是惯性地看无线台……无线电视剧的水准也是很参差的，当你在看一部很没意思的电视剧时，为什么不给邻台一个机会？”

题材不同 桥段类似
《赌场风云》、《义无反顾》两部剧虽然题材不同，但是在情节人物的设置上有不少相似之处，显示出香港电视连续剧编剧套路化的老毛病。

两部剧的“大反派”苗侨伟和刘恺威，向来都是以正面形象示人，前者不是警察就是大侠，后者则一向是“乖乖仔”。这回两人都颠覆戏路，颇具看头。苗侨伟是个赌场CEO，表面和欧阳震华称兄道弟，暗中却设下陷阱，报复欧阳震华当年的夺妻之仇；刘恺威则是留洋回来的律师，追逐名利，为求上位还把哥哥谭耀文陷害入狱。

兄弟反目成主线
香港动辄三四十集的大制作，家族恩怨，兄弟反目是其惯用的套路，这两部剧也不“免俗”。《赌》剧里欧阳震华和黄宗泽这对失散多年的亲兄弟好不容易重新聚首，却好日子不长，很快便产生误会，还在赌桌上一决生死。《义》剧里哥哥谭耀文与弟弟刘恺威虽然同一屋檐下长大，但没有血缘关系，刘恺威向来看不起这个“大哥”。两人同做律师，因为价值观的不同而反目成仇。

(文/蔡丽怡)一众台庆的特别节目为无线前两周赢尽收视，不过也令上周的收视跌入一个小低潮。新剧《赌场风云》一枝独秀，虽比上周同时段的《肥田喜事》大结局略跌2点，但作为首播剧，平均30点、最高32点已与《东方之珠》首播持平，可见业已离开无线的“前一姐”宣萱及“收视福将”欧阳震华果然号召力不少。
可惜同一天、同时段首播，被寄望与《赌》剧一较高下的亚视重头剧《义无反顾》，不知是否因几位主演均不在港，开播以来甚少宣传，“酒香也怕巷子深”，首播周仅得平均3.6、最高4点的收视，实在令人大跌眼镜。其实该剧继承了《纵横四海》的戏路与阵容，以错综复杂的情感线与复仇线直砍人心，当中不少雄辩滔滔的法庭对决，尔虞我诈的人性斗争，都是港剧的“杀手锏”，如能投入剧情，必令人咬牙切齿紧追不舍。相信如果不是落在宣传不力的亚视手上，必能掀起当年《纵》剧的追看热潮。
"No Turning Back" Average Ratings of 3.6 Points; "Dicey Business" at 30 Points
Recently TVB's Anniversary and festivity celebrations have drawn peak ratings, but last week, it fell to a slight low. New series "Dicey Business," received average ratings of 30 points in its first week of broadcast.
ATV's grand production, "No Turning Back," received 3.6 points in average ratings for its first week, peaking at 4 points.
"No Turning Back" did not meet many ratings expectations. This series contains many elements of a blockbuster, reminiscent of "Flaming Brothers" with its cast, its complex plot and relationships, revenge-seeking plot, and many thrilling court scenes. These are elements which are common in many of Hong Kong's past classic series.
If one can immerse into the plot of "No Turning Back," it would be inevitable for one to become addicted to the show. However, the series lacked the proper marketing before its initial broadcast, with many of the cast members absent from Hong Kong. If its marketing promotion were handled properly, the series may attract an audience following similiar to "Flaming Brothers."

It's the official report. I also listened to the radio for further confirmation. Even Fangde got better ratings! The consolation is that many neutral fans like the drama. |

之前宣传很大的亚视新剧《义无反顾》收视令人跌眼镜，有行内人早已向笔者透露，该剧只得四点收视，令亚视告急。亚视对《义无反顾》颇为看重，无奈只得二十六万观众欣赏。
相对之前的亚视购买的外地电视剧《白色巨塔》只有两点收视率，《义无反顾》已多了一倍观众，但四点对一部自制重头剧来说，是重大打击。首几天收视不好，亚视有惯常一招，是有周末重播，上周已是这样做。
一至五平均收四点，即甚少人看过，在周末一口气让观众重温，希望吸引游离的观众，对下一周的收视有帮助。单一节目收视，只反映观众在这时段的选择，他们有可能错过了被低估的节目，用来周末重播，让没有收看的观众再有机会看到，若觉得好看，下周便会加入。
这做法对势弱的亚视是否仍然有效，要等下星期收视出了才知。但近年电视收视的趋势很极端，像香港贫富悬殊，贫者愈贫，富者愈富。好收视加好口碑造就收视奇迹，高开口碑差会导致收视下滑，低开再力挽狂澜机会不高，除非口碑好到不得了。
《义无反顾》这剧种无疑是卖剧力，但包装颇旧，即使是亚视上了年纪的观众，也会觉得旧。
这两年无线剧集也有老化的倾向，想必与制作人老化有关，这趋势对亚视很不利。
以前亚视观众层主要来自三十五岁以上和十四岁以下，相信十四岁以下的大多已流失，因亚视少了武侠动作剧。
三十五以上占本地人口大多数，无线怎会放过！？亚视目前的主要观众群，年纪可能更大，再不重新部署，会变成老人台了。 |

如果说此剧是部烂剧，根本不值一看的话，倒也心安了！也不会这么纠结了！
现在只能无语。。。。。。。。。。。
亚视干脆解散算了！就让TVB一台独大吧！说不定那时候HK人还能也些怀念。
阿谭也不用卖人情回香港拍戏了，怪不得他不回香港宣传，恐怕是早料到这种结果了！ |

Old habits die hard... They rather watch TVB than anything else. The longer the monopoly, the harder it is to break their grip. 
Patrick certainly has more than one reason to want to go home for the promotions but alas, he's tied up with Wong Jing's project. I guess he couldn't even find time to rehearse for that variety show, Dancing With The Stars and that's why he didn't show up. |

往年十一月过后，香港荧屏总有一段颇长的收视低潮期，无线已将全年的重头弹药于台庆月一次性发放，年尾时分便偃旗息鼓，让一批二线小生和花旦替下重将上场，一派轻松温情剧小打小闹的时光。今年却不然，亚视极地反击，于晚上9点半黄金档，推出40集的恩怨情仇大剧《义无反顾》，排出实力派的阵容攻势：由7 年没有再拍电视剧的叶德娴，前无线小生花旦谭耀文、刘恺威与郭蔼明，还有老戏骨曾江、罗家英等，炮制一部《纵横四海》的“经典翻拍版”，刘天赐又担任剧本顾问。观其排阵绝不示弱，摆明又是一次向强台无线的“挑衅”。
无线也没有看轻对手，立即改变策略，换上今年五月才远赴菲律宾开拍、且多年没在荧屏出现的以赌为题材的《赌场风云》，于同日、同时段首播。老姜弥辣的苗侨伟、收视福将欧阳震华，加上人气花旦宣萱，同样以豪华阵容作赌注。本来风平浪静的荧屏，又显得波潮暗涌，这两台非得不时赌上一铺，才算解气。
但做多了“无线XX与亚视XX正面对撼”的消息，心里却明白，两者根本不是势均力敌，结果也不言自喻，输家总是在吃“惯性收视”之亏的亚视一方。新剧《义无反顾》的收视果然没有预期中好，虽然携着“06亚视重头出品”的衔头、又专门为 12月亚视向广告客户推广新一年节目巡礼铺排造势，但首周平均收视3.6、最高4点、约26万观众，恐怕是事与愿违。反观《赌场风云》，首周即收平均30 点、最高32点，超过200万观众，竟赢得这样不费吹灰之力。
近年这种极端的收视趋势，在香港荧屏已是冥冥中的定数，就像香港社会的贫富悬殊，贫者愈贫，富者愈富。然而，亚视偏要打这场不在同一水平线上的收视之战、信心之战，又是否算是另一种自我彰显？
《义》剧的制作人说，收视要讲天时、地利、人和，但他衷心希望观众懂得欣赏戏。就算只有26万观众，这26万人也说这是一部好戏，便会开心满足。《赌》剧大手笔跨境拍摄、拉大队上豪华赌船宣传。对比无线在包装、宣传上所花的心思，《义》剧能卖的只有剧力。如果肯给《义》剧一个机会，你或许会被它当中强烈的情绪和主题牵引，然后禁不住追下去。但只看包装，放弃剧力，只是惯性地“电视汁捞饭”，不加选择地被一台喂养，这难道不是香港观众的一大退步吗？
观众不思变，思变的倒是一些已功成名就的前无线“一哥一姐”，他们改签部头约、转签邻台，或者开赴内地发展，无非想寻求一些快节奏、高产量以外的“戏汁戏味”、一些名利以外的满足感和新鲜感。闹了多年的无线小生荒、花旦荒，危机其实一直未解除。
眼见亚视近年也一直有值得惊喜的作品出来，但每周的收视榜雷打不动地一边倒，不禁想对那些只捧赢家、懒思倦动的师奶观众们疾呼：当你更愿意对一部没劲的电视剧边骂边追时，为什么不给输家一个机会？

宣萱開心《賭場風雲》收視升

【明報專訊】無 铫劇集《賭場風雲》第二周收視上升 2點，平均 32點，最高 34點；與亞視同時段對撼的《義無反顧》的平均收視跌 1點，平均收視只有 3點。上周亞視的黃金時間整體收視也下跌，周一至日的晚上 6時至 11時的收視也是「單位數字」，連王牌的《六點鐘新聞》只有 9點收視。
無 铫周日的《一擲千金》收視跌 6點，流失觀眾人數逾 38萬，平均收視 22點。出現強勁對手，原來是明珠台播映的電影《明日之後》，平均收視 13點，最高收視 16點，觀眾人數接近 103萬。
昨日宣萱到商台接受訪問，對《賭》劇收視上升感開心。她表示與歐陽震華的合作最開心，演出上擦出火花外，波比又不時取笑她胖了，手臂肉似長了蝙蝠翼，又笑她到寧波工作是返「家鄉」，意指她「平胸」。
