I know our interest in the player for a little while now he's 6'2 big physical striker who is the type of player we will need as we progress.

According to the Bath City manager John Relish thinks Phil Walsh will stay with the club now that Truro have decided not to go full time, Phil is the son of former Bristol City legend Alan Walsh.

This will probably be a familiar tale now. Our isolated location could have been offset by the lure of full-time contracts, but trying to tempt quality players for next season will be all the more difficult, individuals have another reason for moving to the South West.
I wonder what Jamie Mudge is thinking now - or that defender from Newport County / Almondsbury we had apparently already signed?
These players obviously need appropriate training facilities! |

Am i right in saying Matthew Bye is currently playing for two clubs, one of which is Truro City. His descion on where he wants to play next season may hinge on the fact City are not going professional as well.
The same could be said with Dean Stamp and Tom Gardener who may not have signed for the club if they had known they would stay semi-pro. However, they still continue to put in fine performances even after learning this news. _________________ "I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception"

It would be interesting to know what sort of contracts the recent signings were given (although we'll never be told, of course) - are they already on the new deal or was an interim one put in place until May 1st?
If the full-time contracts have been ripped up does this mean that Stamp, Gardner & Watts are free agents in 2 weeks time? |

From what I've been told the potential signing of the Almondsbury player at least would have been on a fairly loose premice, pre-contract agreement type affair if that, basically because of the potential risk to the club of ending up with an injured player if they 'signed' him that far ahead, which is sensible. |

Sorry mate but there was someone (er, you?) alluding to the potential signings earlier that's why I mentioned the above, as for Stampy etc I'd imagine they wouldn't have come here without some sort of contract security..........(here's hoping )

Referring to the Almondsbury defender, wasn't he approached before the full-time notion was banded about? If so, and the original offer was on a part-time basis, then what's changed? If this really is about training facilities and not money then he could still come as originally planned.
yeah, right. |

I'd be interested to know which Newport defender you were after. there has been no mention of this in Newport.
Incidentally, if you manage to sign Walsh, he will soon become a fans' favourite with his all action style. During the games he played against Newport this season he caused all sorts of problems for our defence, which is considered to be one of the tightest in Conf. South.

Buy him if he's like his dad was !!! He was, in fact, a DARLO legend way b4 a Bristol City one and still is our all time top goal scorer. Keep the darlo connections going !!! _________________ Darlo@lex |

I remember Phil coming on a sub against us and for me, he was the best player for Bath that day. He will be just what Yetton needs to feed of and would prove to be a good signing. However, he was attracted to the offer of full-time football so I doubt he will come after the events of last week. |

TRURO BACK IN RACE FOR WALSH
10:00 - 15 May 2008
Truro City have re-entered the race to sign out-of-contract Bath City striker Phillip Walsh. The ambitious Cornish club withdrew their original offer last month after scrapping plans to turn full-time for their debut season in the Southern League, but have now made a fresh approach to land the 24-year-old forward.
It means Walsh has contracts on the table from clubs in four different divisions - a full-time deal with Blue Square Premier side Salisbury and part-time terms with City, BGB Premier Division outfit Tiverton Town and Division 1 South & West newcomers Truro.
The son of Bristol City legend Alan Walsh is planning to come to a decision while on holiday over the next week, but admitted his future probably lies away from Twerton Park.
He said: "It's great to be wanted by a few different clubs.
"John (Relish, City boss) has stood by me, but he can't promise me that I'll play every game and being in and out of the side takes its toll after a while.
"I've had a great three years at Bath, but both John and I agree that it is time for me to move on now."
