M.O.T.Day,
Attendances are fine, unfortunately EXPENDITURE will be horrendous next season, I think the time is near for many off field fund raising exercises to be put in place in a professional manner, even with attendances DOUBLED, the books wouldn't balance.

Almost 9,000 people have watched us in the league this season which is almost 5,000 more then the 2nd place side, the attraction of seeing new clubs and a higher standard of football will bring many more back next season old and new.

Couldn't agree more Ivor, if the club is feeling the pinch I'm sure many of us would happily sieze the chance to sponsor kit for example, this is something I know has previously been discussed by various fans on match days at Treyew. Even if were just for the Reserve side it'd be a contribution toward the expenditure you rightly say will go through the roof next season.
Something else that a couple of us were asking a club official about last night were Season Tickets, there seems to be a few of us with them - where and when is a renewal announcement likely to be made? Quite surprised no-one from TCFC has been in touch yet, surely a bit of cash up front before the season would interest the Club, wouldn't it?

Most clubs in this part of the country tend to wait for the fixtures to be finalised if in a position such as Truro who could still be in either the Midland or SouthWest division, when the opposition is known season ticket sales commence a.s.a.p usually Late May onwards. The only clubs I know who sell season tickets during the current season are those whose demand outstrips the supply, Man Utd, Spurs etc.
It would be nice if the club shop could be sorted, sooner rather than later, there are many birthdays between now and August, possible sales could be lost, it wouldn't be a full time commitment so could help fill the time of perhaps a Director of Football. (Oops is that an opening for a who does what debate lol - It's good to have fun). _________________ "CHAMPIONS AGAIN"

The thing with the Season Tickets is that no mention appears to have been made as to whether they will be available or not, even the Club Secretary didn't know when he was asked the other night. Personally I'd have thought with the attractions of the Southern league approaching fast from over the horizon the club would be gearing up ready to cash in. It's not a moan but some of us are surprised that the club appears a bit slow to sieze an opportunity, especially if they're seemingly a bit skint at the moment.
As for the club shop - I gather all merchandise has been farmed out to a Sports shop down the town centre from now on with the club receiving a percentage/royalty on sales. |

All this could be an indication why the team did not go pro'. Surely you need to get the real basics operating efficiently first ie club shop, fundraising, season tickets, the bar etc, etc. All of these (and others) could amount to a significant contribution to the clubs finances. Surely everything poss' has to be explored with next seasons running costs going up so much.
I also worry that the attendances will not go up as much as some predict. A. Because the team will not win every game at a canter B. Novelty / occasional fans will not be attracted unless its a bundle of goals every game C. Admission charges will go up D. All the boll** talked on the forum by the doom merchants puts people off. Hope i am wrong.
So to cut it short we need season tickets and MUGS !!!!!!! Kit sponsorship too and it does not have to be a league club prices .............. also sponsor a player per goal even if only 50p a time - Yetts will make the club a bomb ! _________________ Darlo@lex |
