Excellent news that the club has managed to retain such a talented and successful team. It's a real shame that Tom Gardner isn't on the list - he's been a rock for us - but with the additional 3 or 4 new players, hopefully an able replacement for TG will be high on the agenda. |

That is a solid core to take to the next level. Good to see so many of those names.
Now to the speculations about those 3-4 in the close season! _________________ UP to the South! |

No John Vaughan, Danny Harris or Jamie Skinner on that list.
Do we know if they're moving on, or playing in the reserves next season? I thought Skinner looked a promising player early on in the season, and Harris was good cover for G at the back.
Should hopefully have 5 subs in the league next season, so should have a keeper on the bench as well. _________________

So looks like Cheesy and Gossy arent staying maybe? If not then heres a big thank you to them for the sterling service they have given. Im delighted that Scott Walker has signed as he was one of those mntioned to be a potential doubt, also is Sam Matthews staying? |

Now the club needs to sign three or four big, bruising Southern League style players. The retained squad are all footballers who can play the pretty stuff, but there is a lack of a Lofthouse type centre forward to create mayhem and chances for the likes of Yetton to snap up; A massive, no nonsense centre back or two for the likes of Smithy and Power to tidy up around, and a Bremner stlye midfielder or two for the Walkers and similar to feed off and create from. Here's hoping!

Apparently Cheesy would have stayed, if the club afforded him the courtesy of actually discussing his contract with him. Most improved player of the year, sad to see him in the stands on Saturday.
Gossy is weighing up offers, and how they will fit in to his business schedule, but hopefully he will still be around next season.
Vaughany has been told he's surplus to requirements after the season ends.
The biggest loss is Tom Gardner - on the bench on Saturday.
Danny and Skins have played in the reserves for most of the season, not sure what their situation is for next term.
I think a big centre-forward has been on the agenda for a while, interesting that our 4 existing strikers are all on the list. A dominant central defender now needs to be added to the wish list. |

Excellant to see so many are being retained. A shame for the two or three missing fromthe list but on the whole, it's a good sign. |

Great news as the core and the talent is nearly all staying.
Cheesy has been great and will be missed. Surely Vaughan deserves to stay, the 2nd team have been awesome and he has been the keeper. We all have our opinions and i rate him our No 1 whilst dan is out.
Anyway all the best to those moving on and ta 4 the memories. _________________ Darlo@lex |

Richard pennigton was the number 1 for the reserves until vaughan came in. _________________ Alex Driver |

Hard to tell because he only played the once. He held his own but didn't stand out. I suppose he needed more time to settle in before we could judge.
I agree with an earlier post the Vaughan is a better keeper than Chapman. He commands his box well and is a great shot stopper. Sad to see him go.
Good to see we haven't lost any of the 'original' squad from 2006/2007 squad (except Gossy.). This stability will be key to success in the next few seasons. |

I think most of the dust will settle now the retained list has been made public, thankfully the remaining management got their priorities right in concentrating on stability on the field, even though their priorities left the supporters in limbo for a while with many unanswered questions, it is always sad to lose some of our players but that's football, out with some of the old to make room for the new.
Times could get exciting when the next phase of City's development is put into action. _________________ "CHAMPIONS AGAIN"
