Official Statement:- Youth Development  Reply with quote

Once again unfortunate stories have appeared on various websites which have caused much conjecture concerning Truro City's Youth Development Program claiming that the Truro City have decided to disband the youth section from the club.

The club and myself would like to make it crystal clear this is untrue we are very proud of what has been achieved so far, we have been and have every intention in the future to fully support all our youth teams to us they are the future to our success.

We should look no further then last night at Radstock when Sam Cooper (17) made his Western league debut and was unlucky on the night not to of scored a couple of goals. Indeed Sam has come through our youth ranks playing for the thirds before moving into the Reserve side to which he has been a regular this season and he fully deserved his debut last night.

The club will address matters further at a meeting at the club on Wednesday May 7th at 6pm, we encourage everyone involved with the youth to attend and voice your opinion's on how to get involved and how to take the Youth forward next season and beyond.

In summary once again our Youth Players are very important to us, they are the foundations of our club which we can't allow to be discarded under any circumstances. It is important to ignore all the gossip and untruth's that others have posted on websites and come and listen and have your say on the 8th Truro City Youth will progress and improve further.

Chris Webb Vice Chairman & Founder Of Youth Development

A huge thank you!  Reply with quote

I have now spoken with a couple of people and there is also an official statement on the forum regarding this. The youth training will start up again very soon and I am happy with the answers I got. I would like to thank Chris, Robin and the other people I spoke to regarding these rumours and the facts.

In the meantime I would like to say that I only ever wanted an answer to what I considered to be the facts (Things I knew were true) and to bring to light what people were saying and that has been done by the club.

Once again thank you all for reading my posts and to the club and officials for acting so swiftly.

So here we are again then, onwards and upwards!!!!!

Rumours From Inside the club  Reply with quote

I agree wholeheartedly with the notion that the rumour came from INSIDE the club. Whilst the initial posting on this site came via a story on the Cornwall Football Forum, the key criticisms and 'facts', actually was posted on this site by one of the Youth coaches.

'Yes this is true .

Was even told that the club is not going to pay for the trophies at the end of season presentation .

The club will not contribute financially to running the youth anymore .

This means the parents of the children that have supported and played for Truro City Football Club , will now have to pay for their own Trophies this season .

There is only 1 word that can describe this action by Truro City Football Club and that is

................NASTY .......................

These children have paid £65 each to join the football club , represent the football club in all competitions and then are told that the end of season parties for these children from 7 years to 16 years of age has to be paid for by themselves .

This is ..............NASTY ...................

They have had no involvement in the young players , but used them as ' pawns ' when asking all the youth to congregate in Truro when the club was going for planning .

His criticism as a coach was outrageous and 'nasty' and clearly people believed him to be a reliable source. Is it any wonder then that people become wound-up? In fact that may have been the the motive behind it. TO KEEP HIS OWN JOB.

What followed was the needless speculation and criticism of Kevin h
Heaney and others. It is clear that the club can do a better job of communicating with fans, but for heavens sake ease off on the speculation and moaning until you know the facts. If there was any good in the moaning, it is that it has brought a club statement forward. The damages it creates however far outways any positiveness that it brings.

Bit Harsh?  Reply with quote

Hi -just think the last comment is a little harsh, although I understand it, as if I recall correctly this coach was extremely critical (and personal)to comments made earlier in the season by Mrs truto white.

However the theme is right - if the rumours started from within the club then something should be done. I think those whao have made postings slagging off the club should consider making some apologies or explaining their comments further - or is that too much to ask?

Harsh?  Reply with quote

You're right - my statement may be a little harsh, and yes I think the comments made against me earlier in the season may have prompted me a little. Others who criticised were however big enough to apologise once they had reviewed what I had said. Others didn't

In any case I stand by the point I was trying to make which was the rumours started within the club and that we can do without senior coaches from within the youth set-up shooting off on a fans web-site BEFORE anything official has been released. How are young players supposed to learn how to be professional?

I am of course delighted that the youth set-up will continue. I agree with Jonsdad that Mr Heaney has always made it abundantly clear that his plans are not just about running a first team, but about creating facilities and opportunities for the children of cornwall
