So now we know, we are in the Southern League South-West Division, a few of the teams I had hoped near me are in the Midland, looking at the set up, there are about 10 teams within a 50 mile distance from my home so that pleases me.
Now it is wait and see who from the Southern League draws the first short straw to journey into the unknown that is FORTRESS TREYEW. _________________ "CHAMPIONS AGAIN"

Now we know it is all not a dream looking forward next to the fixtures being released in mid June I think, very competitive league and of course we meet the Stags of AFC Totten a very friendly club and sure to be two cracking games.

At this EARLY stage I forecast
42 Played
20 Won
13 Drawn
09 Lost
74 Goals For
52 Goals Against
73 Points
Fighting it out for a Play-Off place.
All in All a successful first Southern League campaign. _________________ "CHAMPIONS AGAIN"

Can you reasonably expect to be fighting for the play off positions if you predict winning less than half your games? |

I think you will find that is the type of league it will be,
CLOSE FOUGHT ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN MANY SIMILAR TEAMS. _________________ "CHAMPIONS AGAIN"

I hope you're right! Should make it more exciting for your fans than the past two years of relatively easy wins - with one or two exceptions!! |

This year 73 points wouldn't have been enough for the playoffs.
5th placed Uxbridge just scraped in with75 points but Oxford Didcot & Fleet all had over 80 points |

Therefore a team with 73 points would have been fighting for that 5th position almost to the end. _________________ "CHAMPIONS AGAIN"

I wouldn't mind us being the first team to visit you in August.
I hope we visit beginning of the season (Aug-Sept) or end of season (Apr) as you are pencilled in for our weekend away.
Our last two weekends away (Newport IOW) have both fallen in January...... not nice especially as one of the games was postponed but we had already booked for the weekend so went regardless.

Kernow Villain,
I have now had time to look at the play off situation for previous years, you were correct for this season 2007/08 however, in previous years teams qualified for the play offs as follows:-
2006/07 - 71 points
2005/06 - 72 points
2004/05 - 64 points
Just goes to prove how the play off system keeps clubs seasons alive. _________________ "CHAMPIONS AGAIN"
