| Luke Cup Final - Result St Tudy 2 - 1 Truro City |
|
|
A show piece final against the 2 best teams in the county , produced a briliant game of football by both sides .
Truro scored all 3 goals in what the County Treasurer Chris Coombes described the game as a credit to the players that would surpass and senior game he has seen this season . Together with the Rathbone Final producing another great game played by the youth of Bude and Millbrok .
With both teams out to cancel each other out , the game was fiercely fought in the midfield . Some crunching tackles from both sides set the standard of the game .
St Tudy took the lead midway through the 1st half , when a fierce shot from a St Tudy player moved direction , only to confuss the Truro keeper Luke Hilliard . He got his hands to the ball but the power was to much , and it crossed the line .
H-T St Tudy 1 - 0 Truro City .
Coming out in the second half Truro pressed St Tudy back . 2 disputable offside decisions which saw Truro score 2 goals were cancelled out by the linesman . Still Truro continued to open up the St Tudy defence and were rewarded when Richie Rundle poked the ball home from close range , after a good cross . 1 - 1
Both teams wanted to win this prestigous Cup Final , and both teams played end to end football with great skill and pasion from both teams .
With 15 minuted remaining Charlie Conway who had an outstanding game at right back saw his under pressure clearance slice over the head of Truro's keeper Adam Bainbridge ( who came on at half time for Luke Hilliard ) and into the net . St Tudy 2 - 1 Truro City .
With time running out changes were made but to no availe , albiet an St Tudy player climbing al over the back of Richie Rundle in the penalty box and no peanaly given ( um um ) .
Final Score ....... St Tudy 2 - 1 Truro City .
I would like to congratulate St Tudy on winning the County AH Luke Cup Final in what was an excellent game of football played in the right spirit .
Finally I would like to congratulate my team on a wonderfull season , wining the league , losing finalists in the league cup and losing finalists in the County Cup . You were a credit to yourselves and the club today , keep your heads up , and its been an absolute pleasure to lead you through the season and be apart of what you have achieved .
Well Done to all the following players today .
Luke Hilliard
Adam Bainbridge
Charlie Conway
Sam Hatfield
Jaisal Barot
Ben Williams
Jack Parton
Lewis Ellis ( Capt )
Ryan Tresidder
Sam Gerken
Tom Hardwick
Alex Rowe
Mark Mitchell
Rob Dunn
Richie Rundle
James Daniel
Stay together as you will be awsome next year .
I would also like to thank Andy Conway my assistant manager , our TOP COACH Keith Cotterill , Simon Tubbs and last but not least the man whos vision to develope the youth at Truro City and harshly be made the 'scapgoat' of some ones finacial mistakes ,and lose his job , Mr STEVE MATTHEWS .
ps .. Mrs Trurowhite . You obviously are afraid to show your name on this website and are quite happy to hide behind a name and express your comments without have the courage to say who you are . So come on 'lets be having you ' . I know who you are , you know who i am coz i aint afraid to express my comments in public . Your pathetic . Oh and by the way what did you think of the teams display today and the squad i picked , were they up to your expectation and standards ? What about the players that were subs ? What about the tatical desicision that was made when we were 1-0 down and came back to 1-1 ?
Youth football is all about developing children , and i along with others believe that these teams have developed above what expectations people had of them .
I rest my case . _________________ Master Chief |

Good post regarding the game, 'Master Chief. Master Chief? Such a shame you took the polish off the boys performances by ranting on the back of it, as you have. Crass work. |

| How sad? |
|
|
How sad that you have to rant off in this way, with veiled threats.Simpy pathetic and such a bad example of how you should develop leadership for the children in your charge.
How sad that you feel unable to deal with the slightest criticism, or that someone like me even cares sufficiently about any change of tactic that may have led to you pulling back a game from 1-0 down. Criticism (and I feel mine has always been fair and constructive) please show me otherwise is a critical part of the game. It should be dealt with professionaly and considered or of course rejected. If any of your players are to play at a higher level then they will be exposed to criticism on a daily basis.
How sad that you have to disclose/suggest to the whole world the real reason why Steve Matthews is leaving. This has got to be a breach of his confidentiality. I'm sure Mr Matthews did not want people to know that he has been asked to leave for some kind of financial mismanagement or inpropriety.
How sad that you failed to acknowledge or apologise your part in the rumours that the Youth set-up was going to be disbanded. How sad that you appear not to be able to engage your brain before your mouth.
What is not sad is that I have from reliable sources at the club that you will not be on the coaching staff next year.Perhaps that will allow you time to get some much needed therapy for your paranoia.
And of course how sad that you take the gloss off what seems to have been a good season for your team by acting in such an unprofessional way by ranting, without good cause through this web site and that in doing so have brought the comments on these pages to such a low and personally critical level The personal message system is in place to resolve these sort of matters and how sad that you feel unable to have used this, but rather take your sense of being persecuted onto the world wide web.

Thanks for the report which was great up until the paragraph that starts with "p.s." which really took the attention away from what sounds like the valiant efforts of the team. |

First things first, this was a good game of footy, st tudy outfought truro and just about deserved to be in front at half time, in the second half truro came out fighting and played some excellent football, truro fully deserved to level the scores, both teams went for it and i could only see one winner to be fair, luck was not on your side for the winning goal, the ball could of gone anywhere. I have watched this truro team several times this season, and i think i can say, its a nice team. I do believe this team had so much more to give.
Mrs.Trurowhite, to me has been fair in her comments all season, she has not slated the team at all. I have heard alot worst.
This just took the gloss of a good season for the lads, its such a shame you said what you said master chief. _________________

The youth threads have been interesting to read this season, unfortunately this section has been soured by mentioning off field matters.
Taking the seasons reports into consideration Steve Matthews did a great job and will be missed by those who matter, the YOUNG PLAYERS.

It's time for the parental/coach bickering to end, it is a shame this virus appears to affect most areas of youth football, usually when parents over assess the merits of their own children, a nationwide disease, there doesn't appear to be the same enthusiasm to thank the coaches who give up their time, sometimes at the expense of the needs of their own family members. _________________ "CHAMPIONS AGAIN"

Firstly thank you Mocktrial for your supportive comments. I can't tell you how horrible it has been to be subjected to the comments made by Master Chief for most of this season. I understand he even blasted me in one of his team talks/training sessions to his squad.
I do not believe I have been unfair and I am heartened that there are a number of people who believe that Master Chief has over-stepped the mark.
Mountaneer - just in case your final comment is a pot at me - I have never ever indicated whether in fact I have a child in the Truro set-up. Even if I had a child in the set-up I have never referred to him/her for the very reasons you say, so on that point I agree with you. However in defence of all parents, I do not believe there has been a single incident on this site where a parent has been praising their own child in the way you suggest. I think this season has been difficult for the youth system and parents have conducted themselves admirably on this site.

Mrs. Trurowhite,
Not knowing you, my remarks could hardly have been directed in your direction, they were just commenting on adverse remarks made on many threads over recent weeks. The youth football I observe (not at Truro), does not show PARENTS in a very good light, in a controlled environment where officials were not concerned for their own safety about 50% of them would be sent from the touchlines. It is a national parential disease.
Someones little Johnnie may not be as good as someone else's little Jimmy but try telling the parents that.
COACHES DESERVE A MEDAL.

I have to say, i have not seen one parent being told by officials this season to curb there excitement, so that says alot for the truro parents.
Mountaineer.....you say, and i quote "coaches deserve medals and 100% support".........who wrote the ps bit at the bottom of the report?
The coach should have reported the match and kept his remarks to his self and not air them on here. will all have opinions, you could ask 50 people about this game and everyone would see it from another angle.
I am in support of Mrs. Trurowhite, i do not know them at all, there comments were not aimed at one single person, there comments are no different to others that i have seen on other forums, some people take it to heart.
I hope this will be the end of this matter. _________________

Mocktrial7,
I wrote "Youth coaches deserve everyones 100% support".
That does not refer to an isolated unsavoury incident, it refers to ALL youth coaches nationwide.
It is strange you failed to comment on my "Someones little Johnnie may no be as good as someone elses little Jimmy but try telling the parents that".
OR thanking the coaches for the time they put in, often to the detriment of their own families.
Many parents look upon the coach as being an extension to their baby sitting circle. |

To be hones, what mrs.trurowhite said was reaonable, and maybe once or twice things could of bin worded better but overall it was true.
And i dont know who either mrstrurowhite or mocktrial is but neither have put the team down and we can all take constructive criticism. i just think we should get on with the youth department.

Just wanted to say that although this has been a bit of a tetchy debate, there have been some good and mature points made.
Good to see players expressing a view that might not go down well with their coaches. Know the feeling there! Keep on speaking freely!!
I hope that people will feel confident about expressing their views without the fear of being slagged off publicly. We all have opinions - that's what football is based on. Just let people express their views without fear. That includes opinions that might not be the same as yours and opinions that some players might not always agree with you and that to freeze them out is not usually the best answer, especially when they are only 16 |

I respect those who coach at youth level, I do not however condone open criticism of coaches, any concerns of those being coached should be kept private and sorted out on a one to one basis, I may be old fashioned but that's always been my opinion.
A STORY FROM THE DISTANT PAST.
The Year 1950
The venue was the Truro schools pitch in Treyew Road, County Hall side of Penwithers Lane.
The match was the final trial for the Cornwall schools team, Possibles v Probables, the 14 year old left winger for the Possibles was doing what he was told, keep well up the field and wide on the wing, play was at the other end of the field, the Possibles left winger knew the Probables right back and was chatting to him, the coach (referee) blew his whistle ranted and raved at the left winger, claiming that by chatting to the full back he was making his job easy for him, the left winger should have been moving about keeping away from the full back not making life easier for him, rant over he sent the 14 year old off and brought another lad on to take his place, the 14 year old arrived home in tears his county hopes had gone, when his dad came home from work the story was told, "serves you right, the coach was right to send you off" was his reply.
In those days the coach was Mr Chinn, one of Aston Villa's top coaches in the 1940's, the 14 year old was kept in the dark left to suffer, then the team was released, he had weathered the storm, he had been selected despite everything, when reporting to play all the coach said was "Have you learned your lesson", the reply "Yes Sir".
What would happen to a coach who did that in today's climate?
The 14 year old was me. That day taught me a valuable lesson. |

Mountaneer I don't think you are old fashioned, and I believe you are right that you should be able to raise concerns with coaches directly. However I think you are not seeing the whole picture. My following of this is that there wasn't any criticism of coaches anywhere in this until the coach in question began an attack on this site against someone who as far as I could see was merely giving a view on a game/s that she saw. No criticism of coaches. Nothing rude or personal and in my book that is fine.In fact as you will see Mrs Trurowhite asks for someone to point her to where she has done this.
Mrs Truro White only criticised the coach when a) that coach made an attack on the club and its decisions and b) when an attack was made on her.
In my book Mrs Truro White has a right of reply and to defend herself. Call me old fashioned also, but we used to say ' if you can't take it then don't dish it out'. |
