This game can be described as the top of the table clash , against the 2 teams fighting for the title .

In what can be described as attrocious conditions , Truro Jags lost the toss and were playing into the wind and rain in the 1st half . Having seen both teams week in and week out at training I knew this would be a hard match . The Cougars certainly took the game to the jaguars . With Mark Mitchell , Tom Welford , Mike Burns , Mathew Willey and Simon Lyndon in midfield , the Cougars were intent on putting 1 over on their club mates after the 1st game of the season that saw the Jaguars record a 5-4 victory .

Pressing and closing down led to Cougars forward Rob Dunn score from the edge of the box . His 1st time strike and goal was worthy of wining any game . He swivelled and unleashed a shot over the head of the Jags keeper Luke Hilliard , hit the crossbar and went in . It was hit that hard that the goal bounced of the ground and hit the crossbar again before going over the line . 1-0

The Jags still produced their trade mark football and passing play and created chances only for Cougars keeper Adam Bainbridge to prevent them from scoring . With the wind in their backs and route one football , Dunny Mitchell and Welford went close to adding a second .

The constant probing and excellent passing variations from Lewis Ellis and Jon Elvins encouraged the Jags . 2 minutes before half time , a fine ball through by Tom Hardwick , found Richie Rundle unmarked , his defense splitting ball found James Daniel who calmly slotted the ball past the advancing Bainbridge . 1-1

H-T 1 - 1 .

The Jags went into half time more confident than their opponents . With standing the amount of pressure in the 1st half and taking a 1-1 draw at half time manager Phil Hodges was delighted with his teams performance . With just a few tatical positional changes at half time , saw the Jags really take the game to the Cougars in the second half . With most games , the 10 minutes of any second half just after half time is crucial . In that period the Jags scored 2 more goals and killed the game off . Their second came from a great shot on the edge of the area from Richie Rundle , whos fierce strike beat Bainbridge and marked Rundle's 50th goal this season in all competitions for the Jags . Another diagonal ball from Ellis found Hardwick who raced into the area , he shot and Bainbridge blocked well , only to see the rebound fall back to Hardwick , he rounded the keeper , only for the keeper to bring down Hardwick and result in a penalty for the Jags . Rundle stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way and give the Jags a 1-3 lead and bring his personal tally of goals to 51 this season .

The Cougars never gave up and were unlucky on a number of occasions towards the end of the match . James Daniel was injured in the closing minutes of the game , sustaining and calf tear and left the ground on crutches . Having spoken to James the next day he is going to be sidelined for about 4 weeks . We wish you well James .

Full - Time .
