and a team that changed the refs mind on a lot of occasions!
the first half saw Truro do well. the first dodgy decision of the day came after about 35 mintues when josh sims came onto his right foot and went to cross. however the ball taken by the wind and hit the underside of the bar and come out. spectators and mawnan players thought the ball had gone in, yet for the ref to wave play on!!
the teams went in at half time, which truro probaly the happier of the teams.
2nd half saw it all start!!
Truro conceded after the mawnan winger tricked 2 truro players crossed the ball back and mawnan scored! then came another dodgy decision, corner was whipped in and the keeper went to grabb the ball but was beated by the city striker. the keeper fell to the floor in the goal with the ball in his hands. the ref gave a goal with all the city players running back, then all of a suddenly he gives a free kick to mawnan. This after 7 or 8 mawnan players surround the refeere.
mawnan then scored their 2nd. after a dubious corner.
then came the first sending off. the ball came across the box, the mawnan player cut onto his left hit a shot, only for Ben Rowse to parry it over the bar. problem was, he was the left back! ha straight red
penalty was scored, only for the ref to rule it out for incrouchment!
moments after the 2nd red card came.
a long throw from sims saw the ball headed out back to sims, who took the ball passed a two footed attempted tackle but lost control of the bal and lunged for the ball, and took the player instead with a high challenge. the player who was fouled then retaliated and hit sims in the face. so sims saw the straight red and with the fouled player seeing yellow!
the final 15 minutes saw 9 man truro still pushing on to try and get a goal, however it was to no avail and mawnan go on to play in the regional final.

Not to worry,you went and gave it your best shot,you cant ask any more than that.Seems as if it was just not Truro's day.Thats the way it goes sometimes.

This was the first time I had watched the thirds. Really dissapointed that such an important game was ruined by a very weak referee. You can see some good footballers in the squad, and hopefully by playing at a higher level next year this will enable some good young players to play more decent football. Certainly the opposition on saturday were a very strong team who despite the ages of some of hteir players had a very strong desire and were able to play some good football. Hopefully the thirds can join them in their league next season |
