Top Class performance was the only way to described this sides performance today . With the game being moved from grass to the new 3g artifical pitch at Saltash it proved to be a great display from Truro City .
Going into a game against unknown opposition who are top of the East Cornwall u16 League , seamed to be a mouth watering tie for Truro City .
With the team consisting of 14 players from the Jag team and 2 from the Cougar team , their understanding and once again the football skill and passing , saw Truro win this game in the 1st half of the 1st half .
Against a very big physical and tough team Truro imposed their quality from the start . A fine ball from debutant Jack Parton who had an outstanding game in the middle of midfield , found Richie Rundle , who's pace left the Caradon defence stranded , to put Truro 1 up with a hard low shot across the keeper .0-1 A mix up in the Caradon defence saw Tom Hardwick race through and smash the ball past the advancing keeper . 0-2
Some sloppy defending and not clearing the ball straight away saw Caradon pull a goal back . 1-2 . The character of this side showed in the next 10 minutes . They quickly responded with another goal when James Daniel calmly lobed the keeper to make it 1-3 . 3 minutes later Truro were awarded a penalty which Rundle calmly slotted home 1-4 . Within a minute it was 1-5 , with Tom Hardwick who was outstanding on the left today heading the ball over the line .
Credit must go to Caradon who pulled a goal back just before half time . 2-5
Half Time 2 - 5
The second half saw how good the defence was today . The back 3 of Charlie Conway , Jaisal Barot and Sam Hatfield came under constant pressure from Caradon , but it was Luke Hilliard the Truro Keeper who deserves a lot of credit . His bravery and agility prevented Caradon from scoring . Caradon were awarded a penalty after a hand ball by skipper Lewis Ellis . The Caradon player snatched his shot wide a skimmed off the post . The Truro side still created chance after chance with Rob Dunn hitting the bar . Caradon resulted in the long ball and long throws , which Hiliard gathered up every time .
The ref blew the whislt and Truro City recorded a great victory , and progressed into the semi-final of the Cornwall County u16 Luke Cup , where they will meet either Alverton , St Tudy , or Charlestown/Falmouth Utd who drew today .
Full-Time . East Caradon Rangers 2 - 5 Truro City .
Well Done lads . Very proud of what you produced today .

woohhhh Easy Tiger - Master Chief - or should I say Master Chef after all this cookin'-up you have been doin???!!! I had to register on this site havin seen your report!
Don't know who you are or wat game you were watchin' - but I wasnt at the same one mate!
Now we ain't the smartest team in Cornwall and I know we don't play pretty football, but what you played ain't a 'top class performance', nor were you 'imposing your quality' - geeh man - I cant believe the nonsense you is talkin'!!! This was a dull game, scrappy with no team better than the other - it was one of the worst games I has seen all season!
I didn't see anyone 'outstanding in the middle' - are you sure we were at the same game? This is just such biased reporting! Yea maybe you were better on the day and we gave away a couple of soft goals, and yes as you say your 'keeper kept you in it in the 2nd half but we certainly never resorted to long balls and throw-ins as you said. And a 'great victory' - who do you think you are Alexander the bleedin' great! This is a kids football competition! We want to win it of course, but don't get out the medals yet boys, you are up against a proper team next round. And Master Chief whoever you are - get a reality check man! Come on Alverton that's what I say! |
