It's not speculation  Reply with quote

Hi Darlo@lex, just to let you know that I put a post on the Youth Team Forum as you may have read because I, and I am sure many others, want answers from the club. I only used "speculation" for the parts of the post (the quoted part) that is, that may have not been true.
Here are the bits that I know are true:

My son plays (or rather played) his part in joining in with the under 11's youth team training on a Friday night at Penair School. He came home last week and said "Mum, we have been told not to come to training for a few weeks".
I didn't really question it too much but just thought they were having a break as you do sometimes.

I have known Steve Matthews for a very long time (about 20 years now) and he is a very good coach and has passion in what he does. He likes to see the children learn and he thinks it is important for them to have sport in their life. I do not know why he left, he never spoke of leaving the club at any time, he only ever spoke of taking youth football into the future.

Next thing I know he has left the club with 1 months notice and 3 months pay (again, I am not sure how much of this is true) but I do know that he would not have left those children without a means of training or playing football. It was a big part of his life. Now I felt this was very suspicious so I read the cornish soccer forum and posted that quote in the Youth Team Forum. It also said that all the coaches had gone too. Once again, I would like to re-iterate that I only know that there is no training and that Steve Matthews has left the club in what I personally deem to be quite a sudden departure.

As a parent I demand to know what is going on in the Youth Structure at the club. Will our children continue to not have any football training for Truro City or will it restart soon. Has the whole of the theyouth infrastructure been taken apart? I don't know. I want to know. This has made me very angry as my son was one of many children who Kevin asked to come and join in the march for Pencoose "for our childrens' futures". My son marched with Kevin, Chris & Co (including Steve Matthews) and appeared on tv and in the papers. So why have they now got nothing? I am sure that you too have a very strong feeling as to why we want answers to the facts. I am not fussed about the speculation but I know what is true and that is what I want the club to answer.

I wuld also like to ask anyone to keep this thread going so it doesn't get forgotten and so that not just the parents, but the children who play and train and the parents of those children also get answers. Many of those parents are also supporters of the club. I would also like to point out that a club statement should be made when important issues like this are threatened or taken away.

Shocked Ta 4 the reply, sounds bad .... but both my girls go to weekly football training sessions at Duchy college and Callington Colts and we hve 2 contact numbers for both. So why dont you phone up and demand to know whats going on ? Sounds like lots of parents need to know what is going on.

Darl@lex

I have today been informed by someone from the club and the coaching teams that the youth development has only been stopped for a few weeks. It will continue. There will be changes and hopefully these will not make too much of a difference to our children. There is a new Head of YouthDevelopment Manager coming to Truro City and there is now a statement on the forum about the youth teams. I am totally in agreement that if you play for a team there should be some sort of fee and £100 A YEAR is a very good price indedd when you work out how much per week that is. You can't go swimming for that nowadays. The best news is that the coaching side have not disbanded and that is what concerned me the most. I am glad I have my answers now and I have thanked those involved so now we can look to a brighter future for the children.

Once again, thanks for replying to my posts.
