| Ian Gosling - End Of A Era/ Now Confirmed Perran Manager |
|
|
After picking up his award for reaching 100 games for the club Ian has apparently retired after today's game, he is now expected to go into coaching and all of us wish him well.
Ian has been a fantastic ambassador for Cornish football winning to many honours to list them all but playing at Wembley and having a F.A. Vase Winners medal must be top of the list.

If it is true Ian Gosling is retiring.I would personally like to wish him
great success for the future. He has had a great career.from a early
age of 15 when I was manager of Truro City,s Sunday League team,
you could see he was going to make the grade.
Good Luck Gossy.
When I see you next I will buy you a beer. |

Absolutely top bloke, always willing to give us some of his time, on the pitch Truro will find it hard to replace his crossing ablilty. Hopefully somewhere along the line he'll be coaching younger players, the guy still has so much to offer the game. He explained his reasons earlier to various supporters and you have to respect his decision, his job & family have to take a greater priority in his life.
I believe the Western League title was Gossy's thirteenth league title medal
Best of luck Gossy. |

Ian have a rethink, I hung up my boots at the age of 48, I was playing Sunday Premier League football, slow into a tackle I injured a player, it looked worse than it was, sickened I immediately packed the game in (how could I have done that to the Leagues young top marksman?), over the years I regretted my decision, there were 7 lower divisions I could have dropped into, I had cricket to occupy my sporting interest and at the age of 63 was saddened to give up that game.
Why do I have the feeling that it won't be too long before Ian will be plying his tricks and crosses once more in one of the Cornish Leagues.

Don't think he's retiring per se but trying to establish a balance between life & football, so Mountaineer is probably right in the above sentiment in that he'll keep it local. |

why do we see so many games in the premier league where crosses and corners hit the first man or go wayward
gossies crosses nearly always beat the first man and landed 6yrd to 12yrd spot.
Great stuff time and time again from him, you knew the ball would land aroudn the area to cause defenders problems and at least make them do something
his goal in the 2nd leg semi final of the vase was a corker and had me and others literally jumping around. one of the great moments of the last few seasons.
welll done gossie,
good luck _________________ There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that dont.

Very sorry to see Gossie go, he will be greatly missed, not only on
the playing side, but he was always ready to speak to the fans, I
specifically remember him coming onto the supporters coach at the
end of the FA Vase game at Lymington to thank us all for our support.
Another memory was watching him play for Cornwall, down at Porthleven,
where he was clearly man of the match in my opinion. I wish you all
the best for the future Gossie, I am sure you will be successful in
anything you do. |

Top man Gossie. Best of luck for the future.
What topped it off yesterday was my cousin gave him his match programme to get the team to sign it, and when he went to get it back after the match, Gossie apologised for someone mislaying it in the changing room, and gave him his shirt instead.
He'll be missed by the club. _________________

Remember seeing Gossy many moons ago playing for Truro Reserves. Needless to say that it wasn't long before he was whisked away by the then high flying St Blazey. For me, Gossy has been one of the top club and county players with the pinnacle I guess, earning a winner's medal at Wembley. The goal that stands out for me (along with motd) was the second Truro goal which Gossy scored in the FA Vase semi final, 2nd leg against Curzon Ashton 06/07. An absolute cracker.
I'm sure we'll see you some time soon on the field of play, or maybe just off it. _________________ We Stand Together |

Spoke to someone in the know yesterday and it seems he will be joining Perranporth next season as Player/Manager, all the best mate and i'm sure you will be a big hit down there at Perran. Thanks for all the memories and the crosses (no-one else in the current squad can compare to you when it comes to crossing)
Absolute legend for Truro both this time and when you were there 10 years ago !! |
