The Anniversary  Reply with quote

As we will all know this weekend marks the Anniversary of our great win at Wembley.
I am sure we will get there again one day - just maybe not for a year or two.
It still ranks with me as one of my best experiences ever and definately The Best when it comes to supporting TCFC or any Football Club.
The pre-match at 'The Green Man', the atmosphere, the match, the celebrations - all will remain in my memory for ever.
Thanks for the memories TCFC and here's looking forward to the next time..!!

Yep, have to agree, although as I was on a coach for the trip up on Sunday, I missed the pre match pub visits. Shame we had the rain on the day.
Was telling my cousin earlier that it was a year since we went up, and he couldn't believe it had gone by so quickly.

It was a day that we all will never be forgotten it was such a memorable weekend in London culminating in our victory over Totton thanks to goals from Wills and Broad.

Then to cap it all off we returned to our great City and received a tremendous welcome ending up greeting the fans as they got off the coach to "We Are The Champions" a day that will not only go down in the history of the club but in Cornish Soccer folk law finally achieving a Vase win topped off by being played at New Wembley.

Will make some time over the weekend to put the DVD on and refresh those memories the achievement to all fans new or old will go on Roy Of The Rovers stuff maybe but we went and conquered.

It seems like only yesterday!!

Getting up at 4 am. I even wondered if I was doing the right thing
as I was feeling pretty grotty (breathing difficulties and cough). Not
had much sleep. It seemed like a pretty long day ahead as I boarded
the coach at 4.45 am. Cough sweets and inhalers at regular intervals
helped a great deal. Luckily the stops helped.

Anyway it all proved worthwhile - a fantastic day , Wemble superb,
fans great , atmospere memorable and that was before the teams
kicked off. The game was pretty tense especially after Totton scored,
but spirits were lifted after the equaliser. Then the second half - wow
Totton always looked dangerous and time seemed to go backwards
after Broad's goal. Would the whistle ever blow ?

An then ....euphoria and celebration . The cup was won ,Truro had
conquered Wembley and the bubbly and streamers flowed.

Somehow the trip back home was not so long !! The breathing was
still bad but who cares it was a day in a lifetime I will never forget.

My first ever visit to Wembley for a football match - can it ever be matched ?

I even went to work on Monday morning but had to come home and grab a
kip in the afternoon.

Thirty years of supporting Truro through thick and thin ( with a lot of thin)
finally surpassed by 18 hours of fabulous memories.

I did not dream it ????

WHAT A WEEKEND!!

We travelled up on the Saturday morning on the train (First Class!!) and went into London in the afternoon. Met up with Xembla, Mountaineer, Snapper and Allforone in the evening. Unbelievable and unforgettable match - lucky to get an invite to the players party in the evening - top night!!

Missed the reception in Truro on Monday - still travelling back! Never mind, still one of the best weekends of my life!

A lot has happened in 12 months......

Colin (DW),

YES we were very lucky indeed and I feel privileged to have shared it with all of you, add to that the glamour on Sky TV when Tracey Beaker was interviewed.

Those Southern League awaydays are getting closer to me, roll on the 2008/09 season.

that I got on a plane to London! What a weekend. I cannot believe it's been a year.

Lady at Customs: "How long will you be in the UK?"
Me: "Two days"
Her: "Business?"
Me: "I'm going to see a soccer match!"
Her: "How sad."

Meeting Ivor (and Lee, and Belinda, and Tracy -- and Josie and Auntie Is -- those breakfasts!). Meeting Robin (and family) and Richard and Ray, and Colin and Beaker and Jamie! Oh, the dinner that never was . . .

The rain! The trip to the Green Man -- couldn't move to socialise; next time stand on a chair to find friends. The approach to the stadium, truly awesome. The interview with BBC Cornwall. The build-up. Going behind. Willsy! The noise, the rowdy fans, the presentation -- being the last out of Wembley (chased out by the quasi-fascist stewards! Wink ). It was insane. totally. I loved every minute of it.

The party at the hotel afterward. Meeting the team, Lenny (very friendly -- and he and his wife were headed to Florida the next day!), and Mr. Heaney.

Even as I sit here and type, a year later, I get this silly grin. I can't wait to come back! Thanks, everybody, for the memories.

Here's to the memories we'll get from next year!
