Some very good games planned never heard of Arnold Town but they are seventh in the Northern Counties East Football League, there just moving to a new ground like we hope to with same structure.
Good to play all the local sides too will be the test we need before the Southern league season starts.

to start thinking about next year! That looks like a good mix of things.

Do those possible football league teams include the match you were telling me about, Robin, or was that just April 1 talking! I'd forgotten what day it was!

There best FA Vase run was in 05/06 season where they went through until the 5th round. In 02/03 season they went through to the 4th qualifying round of the FA cup.

Last time I saw Arnold Town was in the 2000/2001 season when they beat Buxton 3 - 0 at Arnold and drew 1 - 1 at Buxton. Sad

However, the last time they met was in the 2005/2006 season when Buxton were run-away NCEL Champions! (2 - 0 away and 2 - 1 at home!!)

I'm not sure if there are any player links between the clubs.

Crystal Palace  Reply with quote

Looks like another of the pre-season games will be against Championship promotion hopefuls Crystal Palace. Apparently they are planning a south west tour in July including City, Bodmin town and Tavistock.

Took this quote from the bottom of a Herald story:

thisisplymouth.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=184334&command=displayContent&sourceNode=135656&contentPK=20457217&folderPk=78082&pNodeId=135637

'Meanwhile, Warnock is busy planning a pre-season tour for Palace to the South West in July.

The Eagles are set to play Carlsberg Peninsula League clubs Bodmin Town and Tavistock, plus Toolstation Western League champions Truro City.

Warnock said: "Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it looks like those will be the three games we will play down there."

Warnock regularly brought his former club, Sheffield United, to Devon and Cornwall for pre-season tours.'

I'll speak to one of the Parkway youth coaches when I see him tomorrow (hopefully) and get an exact location, and postcode for Sat Nav users.

Well done to all the folk who helped arrange such an illustrious series of pre-season friendlies. Expect some bumper crowds at Treyew Road and some fun in the summer sun.

Plymouth Parkway is off the A38 at Manadon, and is on St Peters Road, postcode for the area is PL5 3DU, look on Google maps, and you can see a couple of pitches, but think it's the one where you can just make out the floodlights.
Currently undergoing a redevelopment of the changing rooms for promotion from SWPL.
