I promised myself never to post when angry, but I'm not so much angry as sadly unsurprised.
How many chances do LFC need to put a match away? At Anfield, even!
This may be the end for Mr. Benitez; surely the whole tiresome "rotation" business will be brought up again -- and today it does look like he got the shuffle wrong. Kewell on for Babel? No Pennant?
That doesn't change the fact that his line-up should have beaten Barnsley.
A long season just got a little longer -- and shorter at the same time.
Still, chin up: no time to linger on this as we've got to get up to face Inter on Tuesday.

Rob,
Don't you think he's suffering enough without bringing the "wally with the Brolly" into it?

knee jerk reaction there
the liverpool team should of beat barnsley and had plenty of chances,
perhaps it was just one of them days
with inter on tuesday most would of backed leaving Torres out at kick off.
perhaps Benitez has been wrong with rotation in the past but today was the right game to rotate with Inter Milan coming up.
unfortunately their keeper had a blinder, otherwise people would of said he got it right.
At least England are top of the fair play league and may get an extra UEFA cup spot which will help liverpool should they finish 7th or 8th _________________ There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that dont.

Oh, I wasn't advocating firing Benitez -- I think he should stay. I just meant that since his situation is likely precarious, the media will land on him with both feet, and the owners might jerk the rug out from under him.
And I believe in the rotation policy -- a club like Liverpool can't afford to sign world-class talent only to have them warming the bench. You sign player X and tell him "you'll only get to play in the Carling Cup and against Sunderland" who's going to put up with that? And if Starter A goes down, you're going to need X to be able to step up.
Bruce Grobelaar was on LFC TV two weeks ago complaining about rotation and saying that when 'pool won the league in '81 they only used 13 players.
So what?
Is he serious in believing that the strategies that worked literally a generation ago are still appropriate today? The game is so much faster and the season longer -- you try a whole campaign with 13 men and they'll be spent by March and then you're done.
Maybe Rafa makes a change too many at times, but rotation is basicallly solid, and he doesn't rotate that much more than Fergie, for that matter.
But he did get Kewell/Babel wrong today.
And if he does get his pink slip, please, god, please, not Jose Maureeno. I'll seriously have to think about throwing myself off a bridge at that point.
The Intertoto Cup indeed, 8th place -- pshaw! We'll finish in a Champs League spot, ahead of Everton!
