Saudis Reject Int’l Agreement Forbidding Religious Insults
The Saudi Arabian Parliament Monday rejected a recommendation to adopt an international agreement that forbids insulting of religions, prophets and clerics, the Saudi daily Al-Watan reported.
Now before you get too excited…read the next paragraph.
Seventy-seven members of parliament rejected the recommendation, claiming that if they adopted the agreement, they would have had to recognize the legitimacy of idolatrous religions, such as Buddhism.
In other words, if infidels can’t criticize Islam, then Islam won’t be able to criticize other infidel religions. The status quo is more forgiving of riots and violence.
“To me, this resolution is in conflict with main principles like human rights, freedom of speech and freedom of opinion,” he said.
Now there’s a flying pig moment although from an unnamed source.
