Australia: accused jihadist praised Allah for attack on Australian troops in Iraq

Here is yet another case in which a jihadist does not consider himself a citizen of the infidel polity in which he resides, but as a citizen of the umma, the global Islamic community. This is a mainstream Islamic belief, the implications of which have yet to be considered by immigration authorities in the West. "Accused 'praised God' for attack," by Gary Hughes in The Australian (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):

AN alleged member of a home-grown terrorist cell praised God in front of an undercover intelligence agent after hearing that Muslim insurgents had attacked Australian troops in Iraq.

The undercover agent, identified only as Security Intelligence Officer 39, told a Victorian Supreme Court jury that he was at an Islamic religious class on June 27, 2004, when someone said there had been a media report about the attack on Australian troops.
He said Ahmed Raad, 24, who is charged with intentionally being a member of a terrorist organisation, said in Arabic in response to the news: "All praise to God."

SIO39 then testified that Mr Raad said his fellow Muslims were "worse than the enemy" because of their lack of action in relation to attacks on their "brothers".

At another meeting in September 2004, another alleged member of the Melbourne terror group, Fadl Sayadi, 28, defended Muslim rebels in Chechnya responsible for taking school children hostage, the undercover agent said.

He said Mr Sayadi said that God would prefer anything rather than "to see a single drop of Muslim blood spilt"....

SIO39 said he attended 13 religious classes organised by the Melbourne group, allegedly headed by Abdul Nacer Benbrika, 48, after infiltrating it by posing as a Turkish Muslim called Ahmet Sonmez who knew how to obtain explosives....
