The earth was not the only thing shaken as a result of the greatest earthquake in Pakistan's history, which claimed more than 84,000 lives. God has shaken many hearts free from the bondage of Islam and shown them His love through the faithful contributions of VOM readers. Many of our friends responded in the past two months to the Pakistan earthquake, and we are thankful. Donations of more than $75,000 have helped provide Action Packs, food, medicine, blankets, tents and most importantly He Lived Among Us gospel storybooks.
The Pakistanis living in the disaster zone are predominantly hard-line Muslims, but God has opened their hearts through this tragedy. Mosques are now opening their doors to the gospel. VOM staff reported that one Mullah made sure children were not left without copies of He Lived Among Us. Another Muslim leader said: "You are the first who came to us. We thought Christians were our enemies, but after distributing Action Packs, we came to know that we were wrong. You are the real believers; you have a real compassion for Muslim people." Mosque leader Muhammad Aseem told us: "This was our rigid concept--that Christians (especially the Americans) are not good. But in our difficult time, the Christians have been supporting us with tents, food packages, blankets, medical camps and Action Packs. With this concern and good behavior, we are sure that 'heaven' is your treasure."
his work is continuing as our faithful Pakistani contacts are ministering in the earthquake region, and it is not too late for your gift to help in this exciting ministry opportunity. This is an opportunity for more than just a financial gift, this is an opportunity to reach out to thousands with the gift of eternity. We invite you to be a part of showing the love of Jesus Christ and His Body to hard-line Muslims in Pakistan.
