July 5 (Bloomberg) -- A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck beneath the Sea of Okhotsk today, the U.S. Geological Survey said. No tsunami alert was issued.
The earthquake happened at 1:12 p.m. local time, 384 kilometers (239 miles) west-northwest of Petropavlovsk- Kamchatskiy in Russia, and 2,273 kilometers north-northeast of Tokyo, the USGS said on its Web site. The quake was 605 kilometers beneath the earth's surface.
