Bizarre submersible found floating off New York

Sometimes you run across something strange by just reading an entire page including all of the tiny link's and following it out. I do this when I get distracted for a moment and come back and forget where I was. (old timer's disease maybe)?

Anyway, this story is dated August 3rd of last year, and of course, it didn't hit the MSM nor was it terror-related. Any else get bored like me and wanna run this one to ground? We should see if anything else is out there, or should we wait until it blows up in our face?

New York authorities were questioning three men after intercepting a bizarre submersible vessel found floating just off Manhattan on Friday, police said.

The men were discovered early Friday near the cruise terminal in Brooklyn where the massive ocean liner the Queen Mary 2 was moored, police said.

What the three men were doing with the sub -- which appeared to be spherical with a circular hatch on top -- was not immediately clear.

Local reports suggested the vessel was a historic replica of an 18th century submarine known as a "Turtle," which was used to attack British shipping during the American revolution.

Police raised the alarm after spotting the submarine and an inflatable with two men on board approaching a security zone around the Queen Mary 2.

"A third male was inside a partially submerged vessel that appeared to be designed for underwater navigation," police said in a statement.

"All three males were expected to be charged with a number of violations," they said, adding that authorities impounded both vessels.

There was no indication that the discovery was terror-related -- a constant fear in New York following the September 11 attacks in 2001.

Local radio reported that the vessel was equipped with oxygen tanks.
