Points on the Antiwar Protest

Letter to the Editor
Tuesday, March 27, 2007; Page A12

Three March 23 letters about the recent march on the Pentagon protest and counter-protest raised points that need to be addressed.

Regarding the letter from Matt Mendelsohn of Arlington: The Gathering of Eagles did not hire security to protect the monuments. We hired security to protect our rally and equipment. The Park Service, with the voluntary aid of thousands of veterans, protected the monuments.

Regarding the letter from Mark Burton of Damascus: Mr. Burton quoted Mahatma Gandhi, yet Gandhi would not have marched, as Mr. Burton did, with a group such as the Answer Coalition, which reveres the communist mass murderer Che Guevera and has unconditionally endorsed the terrorists in Iraq.

Regarding the letter from Victoria Saker Woeste of West Lafayette, Ind.: The racism and ageism expressed makes me doubt her accusation. She provided no evidence that horse manure was flung at protesters by counter-protesters. However, The Post has posted a video report that shows a peace protester spitting on a Gathering of Eagles participant.

Given that the Answer Coalition, the organizer of the antiwar protest, has endorsed the killing of American soldiers by the so-called Iraqi resistance, holds rallies to support terrorist groups such as Hezbollah and supports the communist North Korean government, the restraint shown by the 30,000 veterans and other patriotic Americans who by my estimate took part at the Gathering of Eagles was remarkable.

Subject: Saturday Rally at Ground Zero

Eagles,

Our Gathering of Eagles Mission Statement reads in part:

"2. We are a non-violent, non-confrontational group. We look to defend,
not attack. Our focus is guarding our memorials and their grounds.

3. We believe that the war memorials are sacred ground; as such, we will not allow them to be desecrated, used as props for political statements, or treated with anything less than the solemn and heartfelt respect they-and the heroes they honor-deserve."

There can be no greater memorial in this War than Ground Zero. Like Pearl Harbor it signifies the moment in time when our enemy's planning reached out and delivered a harsh blow to America. It is the place where hundreds of American heroes died.

On this Saturday, March 31, 2007, between noon and 2pm the United American Committee will hold their second annual "Rally against Islamofascism" at Ground Zero. While not an offically sanctioned Gathering of Eagles event, I believe it is an event worthy of our support. Bring your flags, "Support Our Troops" signs and anything else you feel appropriate.

Weather is forecast to be partly cloudy and 50 degrees. It can get windy
there so dress a bit warmer.

I do not know exactly where on the perimeter of ground zero the rally will be held. I will be in contact with the organizers and file an update as
soon as possible.

Look for me near a yellow "Don't Tread on Me" flag.

A Day For The Good Guys

I was so impressed with my fellow Patriots as I stood there (sinking in the mud), on the knoll overlooking the Viet Nam Memorial , and later at the 21st and Constitution entrance to the Wall. The cold morning didn't bother me, the wind slashing my jacket didn't bother me; what bothered me was the non-reporting by the media.

I have heard reports that Cindy's crew had over 10,000 people. Maybe throughout the day, but never at one time. When the first reports by the Park Service arrived and said that they had 30,000 people, I queried one of the officers that I have worked with before and he was as confused as we were.

Upon further review, the numbers were reversed, but the confusion had begun. Seems that from a helicopter, we all looked the same, and we were spread out all over the western end of the Mall. We were at the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War memorial, the WWII memorial, the Viet Nam Memorial (the one at greatest risk), the Memorial Bridge, and at the intersection of Bacon Drive and the Lincoln Memorial Circle. Seems that at the Bacon Drive area we were counted as theirs because our side, though on the south side of the fence, were actually across enemy lines and the helicopter just took pictures.

This may well have been the first time in 40 years that these brazen hooligans had sufficient counter force to shut their vitriol down. The true statement of our conviction was that we did it with pride, humility, and for the most part, with integrity. Something few of the "other" side had. Most didn't care about the War, or our soldiers. I saw a list of the Communist, Socialist, Minority activists, anarchists, and, for that matter, most every other anti-American group that the authorities could identify. I was amazed, but not surprised. Sheehan is being used, but as a fanatic, she doesn't care. A means to and end, and she doesn't care about the consequences in between. She, and her minions, are providing an enabling platform to individuals, and organizations, that are actively involved in the effort to topple the American Government and our way of life.

I personally had a discussion with five individuals who identified themselves as students from Temple University. They had the same excretion that I have heard for the last several years from the far left, so it was sort of fun to be able to counter their indefensible, bombast rhetoric. I actually had the squirming at one time. When they realized that they may be late for the party, they politely shook our hands and walked away. What a sight to see. Did I change their minds, NO! One must have one, to change it.

On the other side, I was encouraged by the number of young people who joined in with us. In one case, Great Grand-children of Veterans from WWII.

I was, and am, very proud to have been given the ability to have been there and participated.

What a day for the Good Guys.

Black masked anarchists caught attempting to deface the Lincoln Memorial

The Gathering of Eagles was a success and I was there to witness it and be part of it. The thing that I don't think anyone realizes is that we sorta dropped the ball. After the anti-war crowd did their march to the pentagon almost all the veterans left. The anti-war crowd had parked their cars or busses or whatever they came in over near Constitution Avenue and many had taken the Foggy Bottom Metro into DC.

After their rally at the Pentagon many of these people returned to the area around the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Some of the black masked anarchists were caught with cans of spray paint and were attempting to deface the Lincoln Memorial by painting graffiti on the steps.

A friend of mine who is a Park Police Officer got into a physical altercation with some of these people and used his one set of handcuffs to cuff two of them together. As I understand it Metro Police were called in for back up and had to use force to disperse some of the ones who returned to the area. The really sad part of this is that according to my friend at least two of the ones arrested were booked on multiple charges including assault on a police officer but according to him he expects that they will get not much more than a slap on the wrist and some small fines from the DC Court system. I plan to try to find out when their court dates are, if they haven't already happened, and be in the courtroom to witness this.

I don't understand how people like that can get away with this kind of behavior and go basically unpunished by the court system. It looks like the GOE needs to figure out a way to let the DC government know that the decent people of America are tired of these idiots damaging memorials and assaulting police officers and getting away with it. The stand we took was a good thing now we need the courts to hand out approprite sentences to these people or they will never change their ways and tactics. I will let you know what I find out in regards to this matter.

Soldier burned in effigy stirs outrage

Updated: 8:26 AM, Mar. 23, 2007

By David Krough and kgw.com Staff

Some photos that surfaced on the Internet revealed a darker side of the recent Iraq war protests in Portland.

Slideshow: Photos

Thousands marched in Portland downtown streets Sunday to protest the fourth anniversary of the start of the war. As the march along 24 blocks ended, a group of young people led police on bicycles, horses and motorcycles through downtown.

A few scuffles broke out, with police using pepper spray at one point, and several people were led away in plastic cuffs.

The photos showed protesters gathered around a figure wearing U.S. military fatigues and a crude skull for a head as it and an American flag were lit on fire.

Other black-clad, masked protesters carried a black banner that read, "No Gods, no country, no masters," and a circle A anarchy symbol.

Palinkas went to the protest march Sunday because some friends were going and she thought it a good opportunity to snap photos.

"I was shocked! Cause I haven’t seen anything like that before, you know, so I was kind of scared and confused like, ‘what's going on who are these people?’ I'd never seen anyone burn the American flag or any act of burning an effigy."

She published the pics Sunday on her Facebook account. The Drudge Report grabbed it Wednesday and it took off nationally.

She's received dozens of email in angry reaction to publishing the photos.

“They and their friends are not anti-war: they are for anyone opposing this country,” one viewer wrote in the Vanguard blog, where the photos appeared. “The people they hate most are the American soldiers (whom they term “mercenaries” and in a different era called “baby-killers”) who dare bring freedom to an oppressed people under our flag.”

There was no word on the identity of the protesters.

Heroes In The War On Terror

IOWA

Afton, IA
Navy Cross recipient
Marine Corps Sergeant Major Bradley A. Kasal
Sgt. Maj. Kasal was assisting one of his platoons in Fallujah on Nov. 14, 2004, when heavy gunfire broke out in an Iraqi home known as the “House of Hell.” Marines quickly began exiting the building as Kasal rushed in to assess the situation and help. Kasal was hit multiple times as he grabbed a wounded Marine stranded in the line of fire. Once they were in a more sheltered area, they realized that they only had enough bandages to help one of them. Kasal gave all his medical supplies to the other Marine instead of trying to divide the supplies. The insurgents continued their heavy assault, and threw a hand grenade within a few feet of the Marines to force them to come out from under cover. Kasal reacted quickly, and used his own severely injured body to protect the other Marine from shrapnel. Despite losing about 60 percent of his blood from more than 40 shrapnel wounds and seven gunshot wounds, Kasal survived. On May 1, 2006, Kasal was awarded the Navy Cross. Defend America story.

Army Staff Sgt. Shane M. Koele
In a war zone, daily missions vary as much in number as they do in type. On March 15, 2005, Staff Sgt. Koele and his squad had just finished their patrol for the day in the western province of Herat, Afghanistan, when they received a call for help. Afghans nearby were drowning in a river. The squad quickly responded, assisted the drowning Afghans, and returned to base--only to learn that another patrol needed help in the nearby town of Parmakaan. Koele immediately went back to work, planning routes and organizing his squad for a third mission that day. Yet, despite the best planning, Koele’s squad could not anticipate the landmines that had been buried just outside the town. As they approached Parmakaan, Koele’s vehicle hit one of the landmines. The blast severely injured him, and he died the following day. Koele was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart in March 2005.

Hollywood history repeats itself

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

( Are the Hollywood Actors and Actresses just stupid or what? Do they really believe because they have cameras filming them as they work that it gives them some kind of special outlook or knowledge of life and the world? If they had all served in the Military I might understand them wanting to rant and spew their apparent "Geopolitical knowledge" they are gods in their own little minds because they were lucky enough to be picked to act...something many of us could do and do everyday!! They are mindless morons who are legends in their own minds, and the American public needs to remember the Fonda's and Penns, Odonnels, Sarandons etc. when they chose to spend their money at a theater...or just turning off their movies on TV..the sponsors will get the idea very fast and we will have far less loud mouthed uneducated people spewing ignorant opinions. Sean Penn

Imagine, for a moment, it's 1939.

A prominent Jewish actor makes the following statement.

"Let me tell you something about Germany, because I've been there and you haven't. Germany is a great country. A great country. Does it have its haters? You bet. Just like the United States has its haters. Does it have a corrupt regime? You bet. Just like the United States has a corrupt regime."

What would you think of such a person? How would history judge him?

I don't know that anyone made exactly that statement in 1939. But I do know that Sean Penn made a very similar statement a few days ago. The only difference was the name of the country. Instead of Germany, substitute Iran.

Is there really any moral difference between the statements?

Iran is led today by a president who has repeatedly threatened to eradicate the state of Israel. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is building weapons that can get the job done quicker and more efficiently than Adolph Hitler with his formidable war machine. He is every bit the Jew hater that Hitler was. And he hates America even more.

In 1939, Adolph Hitler had made clear his intentions for the Jews. He had made clear his intentions for all of Europe. He had made clear his intentions for Nazi Germany to dominate the world.

Nevertheless, there were some people in Hollywood who were making statements like that. There were people in Hollywood who were marching against war with Germany. There were people in Hollywood who, like Sean Penn, wanted to appease this evil on the horizon.

No, there was no active Nazi Party in Hollywood at that time. But there was a party under the active control of a foreign totalitarian dictator. It was the Communist Party USA and the foreign tyrant was Josef Stalin.

Why were communists in Hollywood – even Jews – saying nice things about Hitler in 1939 – and even as late as 1941? They were doing so because of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact – also known as the Hitler-Stalin Pact.

It was signed in 1939 and broken June 22, 1941, when the Nazis invaded the Soviet Union.

From 1939 right up until June 22, 1941, the communists in Hollywood had nothing but praise for Hitler. They held rallies against aiding Britain in its life-and-death struggle with Nazism. They gave speeches saying Hitler was no threat. They wrote anti-war scripts.

All that changed June 22, 1941. One day the Hollywood communists were pro-Hitler. The next day they wanted to go to war. Why? Because they took their orders directly from masters in the Soviet Union.

Would it surprise you to learn that one of those prominent Hollywood communist Jews who sided with Germany until the breaking of that Hitler-Stalin Pact was none other than Leo Penn, the late father of Sean Penn.

Amazing? Yes, but true.

You don't believe history repeats itself?

Now it's Sean Penn's turn to relive and recommit the sins of his father, who never repented of his Communist Party activities – activities that included support for and appeasement of Hitler's Germany at the very time the concentration camps were incinerating his Jewish brothers and sisters in Europe.

Penn spoke at a town hall meeting in Oakland last weekend. What he said about his country was shameful. What he said about our country's enemies – and the enemies of freedom throughout the entire world – was even more despicable.

What can you say about a man who embraces and defends Iran, the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world today? What can one say about a man who embraces dictators around the world while openly loathing the elected leaders of his own nation? What can one say about such a prominent self-hating Jew?

I think I've said enough.

It's just history repeating itself.

Gulf War Illness

26 March 07

Dear all,

Reminder please forward emails to all friends, family, employers, employees, any contact you have....Post to email groups not only of veterans but civilians....Post to websites as feature item until the job is done.

Today I reflect on how many thousands could be activated on a cold messy day to go to Washington DC for the gathering of eagles to protect the wall but yet we can not seem to have that same follow through on signing petitions to visually show there is an outcry and support to change things for the troops and the veterans.

We cannot seem to bring that same level of support through to make the calls, faxes, email the critters elected on the Hill in DC, in those hallowed halls, you can drive and travel to go the wall in the thousands but it doesn't show up in the carry thru to support all the various calls for reform and action that starts with the engagement of forces with our elected officials. I sit here and wonder. 171 on a petition that went up on the 21st of March. I don't have the answers except to address it in writing.

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

The troops and the veterans have many needs, the sick gulf war veterans go to the hill to testify and we ask for support. This effort could also lift their spirits and hopes that they will not be abandoned and forgotten.

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

We have stood up for the next group OIF/OEF we testified and mounted a charge to change the system. We demanded that troops get full and complete physicals with blood and urine samples before and after deployment. We stood and documented problems in getting through the medical boards after the Operation Desert Storm. We stood and demonstrated the problem with the VA claims and clinical care or lack there of. WE like many of you have been there through the broken system but we are determined to make changes....landmark changes and not just hot air speeches of politicians and commissions.
We know the lessons learned have NEVER been implemented.

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

We took our lead from the counsel we received from our brothers and sisters who served in Vietnam. We truly believe that Agent Orange situation was handled in a rotten way, there was not a follow thru to find treatment and care and it was a devastating fight to get benefits. WE are into the 2007 year and break through's came for AIDS and other diseases by concentrated mass appeal.

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

As a medical professional I am pushing for answers in diagnosis and treatment of those poisoned from war exposures. I am not content to just watch for the end effects be it cancer or MS or diabetes. I truly belief that we can demand the government to tell the truth and that the soldiers can receive the high level of care that we give to those that suffer amputations, would that require surgical corrections i.e. brain trauma etc. It starts with getting this message to those elected officials that change is coming and we will not back down! It is not just about benefits. It is about diagnosing the exposure, the effect on the body and treatment before cancers and everything else emerges! It is about now and the future care of our troops!

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

I am not happy camper when our gulf war veterans or our Vietnam veterans are not getting proactive screenings for cancers so they can be diagnosed and treated early to save their lives! I want the cancers on all troops and veterans acknowledge as to age, location of troop in theater, type of cancer's, so that doctors and civilians alike know the risk and so troops and veterans are educated to monitor for their risks. I want the same for any disease that occurs after service! I want these registries on line, current, and available for all.

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

I want the best leading edge medical diagnostic tools to be put in use ASAP. I want treatments found to stabilize, stop progression of disease states, to give us true quality of care! I am tired of government delays and denial that hinder these developments. I want doctors to have the ability to order these diagnostic tests at every VA facility so the damage done to our bodies can be identified and treated. I don't want doctors acting dumb and hands tied and sending veterans to Psych consults that may be cheaper but sure doesn't answer the physical changes! Those actions are a disservice to us all. If we combine our forces we can make lasting changes so troops don't end up bunkered in, trying to save their marriages that breakup due to non action in medical areas, trying to find some way to earn a living when the poisons have effected their ability to maintain their professions they had prior to war. I want change! I want to maintain the ability of the troops and veterans to be able to be gainfully employed in their careers and not have to become the chronically ill individuals begging for answers and help.

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

At the time of after action for exposure to Agent Orange, you could go for a lawsuit and you did with DOW. The door was closed after that with extending protections to defense contractors and subcontractors. Boy the government learns and applies their lessons learned don't they?

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

Therefore our efforts to get action re vaccines, PB use, DU use, exposure on the fact that chemical alarms did work despite DOD cover story that the tens of thousands alarms were false led us to a box with not a tool to be found to break the defensive lines. We are like guinea pigs running around trying to fight out of the maze. That is extremely hard we were cannon folder and disposable GI's.

Not! WE are going to live and we are going for ACTION THAT COUNTS not just benefits or money (lawsuits) but something that money cannot buy our health! And guess what the government knows that costs money that is why they have Collective 3 Monkey Syndrome,
Deny, delay, procrastinate, do it on the cheap, close the checkbook after a war, spend money for machines of war but not for the trained personnel that need health answers, diagnoses, and treatment.

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

They also know it is cheaper to give benefits but not tackle the real health issues. They don't think that it might be more cost effective to give answers, diagnosis, and care to keep troops and veterans healthy so they can have quality of life, jobs, and pay taxes.

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

They refuses to look for innovations in medicine and possible answers. They refuse to pay for diagnostic tools that could help or alternative environmental medicine approach if veterans choose that option. Why? I don't have all the answers except companies that donate to campaigns may not want that?

WE have a chance here with new strategies. While we develop other approaches at least this is an alternative.

Sign the petition-make the calls and do the faxes and distribute this information to all to do the same to multiple our effect! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GulfWarillness/index.html

Lets get our thinking in order and develop new battle strategies to make lasting changes to the broken system!

DO IT!

Time is not on our side! Do not put it off or procrastinate.

Get others you know involved! Send the email call to action to widest distribution! Look at all those business cards of civilian companies or contacts ..use those email addresses and ask them to do the same!

Ask friends family members your neighbors...every contact you have multiplies the force.

Gore Explains Global Warming to Congress
WASHINGTON, DC --- Al Gore came to Capitol Hill to explain global warming to Congress in simple terms that everyone could understand. He compared global warming to a baby with a fever. "When your baby has a fever, what do you do?" said Gore. "You don't ignore it and hope it goes away. You fly that baby to the best hospital in the world on your private jet. You buy that baby new organs on the Chinese black market. You put that baby on a ventilator in a germ-free chamber with ten armed guards standing over him. You also destroy that baby's enemies with everything in your power. And that should explain global warming and what we need to do in order to stop it. I estimate that it would only take $13 billion per person in America to start earth's healing process. We have to move before it's too late."
