Muslims in Memphis celebrated the end of Ramadan with prayer and blessings, and by dancing around with large knives.





About 5,000 Memphis-area Muslims joined in a community prayer Friday morning at DeSoto Civic Center and received a message of hope and praise for following the commandments of Allah and making sacrifices during a month of fasting.

Shaikh Mohamed Zaghloul, scholar and imam of Masjid Al-Noor mosque in the University of Memphis area, led the community prayer, which was organized by the four mosques in the Memphis area.

“The primary message was a message of hope for the believers who are following the commandments that they will be rewarded in this world with peace, safety, security, with abundant provision and with all kinds of blessings,” said Dr. Muhammad Zaman, past president of the Muslim Society of Memphis.

Also, their reward will be paradise after death, said the prayer leader, who spoke in Arabic.
