Can you help this parent?
I have read your great book- very convinced as I was brought up without TV
myself in India. But I live in Britain now and now and don't know how to
shield my two sons, 7 and 2 from television. I like them to watch
educational videos and films. So I require a screen to watch DVDs and VHS (
I have both players ) but I don't want them to watch regular TV. I have
been looking for appropriate screens/ monitors for this but have not found
any. Any solutions to this problem ?
many thanks

Well you can watch DVD:s on most computers, so that might be you sollution. I'm not sure of the value of most "educational" dvd:s for kids, though... _________________ Read Alistair McIntosh.

| I have tried this with some success. I used a digital freeview box with harddrive. It has an on-screen tv listing. You select the programmes you want it to record for the children, it will do this on a daily or weekly basis, or just one off if you prefer. When the programmes are recorded, they are listed on another on-screen menu. You select what the children can watch, and away you go. There are no tapes or dvd's to fiddle with, it's all recorded on a harddrive, like a computer. My machine is a Humax. It cost around £170 last year. I went to buy one for my parents recently, but it is no longer available. Digivision are doing something similar, with higher specifications, for the same price, however. It doesn't play dvd's , but it does give you total control over what the children see. Good luck! |
