|
|
I had dinner two nights ago with Mitch Altman, TV-B-Gone's inventor, and he showed my kids and me the newest TV-B-Gone prototype. It's purple on one side with a clear case on the other ("so you can see all the gadgets inside!" my son marvelled.) It will come in green and pink as well. ("No longer a stealth item," Mitch says.)
The new model also has a swell flashing blue light that shows the machine is working.
Mitch says it's got a stronger battery and GOES THROUGH GLASS NOW!!
Not yet available, but I'll let you folks know when it is.

While the one that will have the power to push the encoded IR (Infrared) signals through glass would be very useful (like to upgrade my hat! See my other forum posts for details), I would think that a flashing blue light version would draw even *more* unwanted attention to using a hand-held TVBG...a step in the wrong direction, it would seem, if you don't want to get thrown out of every place you use it in.

| What I want is a Radio Be Gone. Irritating radio broadcasts are just as much of an issue these days. Oh and a Mobile Phone be Gone as well. |

Get an FM (or AM, depending on what band you want to block) wireless RF microphone with manually-adjustable (not digital seek-type) station tuning. One with a microphone is even better, because you then can supply your own commentary instead of the annoying radio garbage blasting at you.
Imagine instead of that annoying radio nonsense, you provide your own late-breaking news story, or a karaoke of your own!! Priceless!!
Try it, you'll like it!
As far as mobiles go, I'd noticed that the now-defunct "Traffic Zapper" once sold by the Edge Co. many years ago (also defunct) could not only trip radar detectors to slow down irratic, speeding, and unsafe motorists thinking they were being "radar-ed", but that it also had an effect on the second generation cell phones. But alas, it no longer has that effect, with the way that phone signals are encoded these days.
Ah, but while it lasted...it was bliss...

...at first, it seems from all the interactions I've had with the many folk who have used the new version with the flashing LED (the 2nd one, that you can see flashing, not the IR one)...the only "improvement" it offers is to get you caught faster whilst using it. Not A Good Idea (tm).
I can understand that the more non-technical folk might feel that they need assurance that the unit is working, also since we can't see in the IR part of the light spectrum, but using the original version of the TVBG on a TV and seeing the effect should be more than enough evidence of its proper operation.
Doctor Downtime's Prescription: You *don't need* the flashing light, which is simply eating *more* of the "Bigger Battery"'s (CR2032) power...causing you to buy batteries even more often (and getting *caught* more often, as you announce your presence)...all you need is patience...and good aim, and you'll be just fine.
