Welldone Hans. Did you receive my floss or your own order ?
I couldn't help but compare our finsihes. I think my large beads is better, I'm biased of course. But I notice you got better coverage with the smyrna stitches on the large box. Did you use more than 1 strand ? I seem to remember you said you used 3 spools of the #8 kreinik, I still have a few left over from my second spool.
And finally, are you sure you don't want to start another project NOW ? |

Yes I'm sure I will not start another project at the moment, I so wrapped in my gateways and I like them so much I will continue to work on this piece.........my favorite subject architecture..and the colors are so nice to work with and all that 1/4 stitches ....I love it
About Gold..........I only used one strand of kreinik #8 for the smyrna stitches, but didnot pull it hard.........and I work in hand and not on a frame so I can feel the tension of the floss while stitching................I already saw that your coverage was different, maybe you pulled harder.....you did use #8??
I received both kereiniks at the same time, yours an my order from pawprint LOL...............and what concerns the big beads and my spangles.....they look both nice.......I think that working with the beads waent easier than that spangles........I could hardly pick them up............... _________________ Hans

Yes, I used #8 kreinik. Probably is the difference in the tension. I do notice however that for the white gold smyrna stitches, our coverage was similar. Also I think you are using linen, off white colour (natural as suggested), correct ? Mine was Jobelin 28 count, pure white.
Im getting the bead packs for Frankincense + Myrrh, so I will use the spanglers next time. |

Hans,
That looks WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!! I loved it before, but framed it looks just magnificent. Do you do all your framing yourself? How did you learn to do it? Is there a book or something you used or did you just kind of figure it out on your own? I'm too nervous to try framing my own work. Maybe someday I will try it with a smaller piece and see how it comes out, but for something big like your Gold project I would be a wreck if I ruined it when I was trying to frame it!
Congratulations on your beautiful work! Now I must get back to my PIG...I'm up to Part Two now!! _________________ WIPS: Carriage House Samplings -- Village of Hawk Run Hollow; Chatelaine -- Mystery X - Victorian Secret Garden; Blue Ribbon Designs -- Happily Ever After wedding sampler |

Love your choice of mats. Something to remember when I come to frame mine.
I am waiting to finish Myrth & Frankinsense first then frame all 3 together with the same mats and frame.
Kevin, I baught a framing kit at a stitching show. I haven't done many but they are fairly easy when you have all the instruction & equitments. I find the stretching part PITA. |

Yes boys I frame everything myself.................I buy the mats and the frame in the size I need...and the rest I do myself. I started once with a small one after looking how the shopowner did it and tried it myself with glue and sticky tape (both side, what we use for fixating rugs and carpets).............the stretching is most difficult part but you can correct yourself again and again......................it is not that difficult but you need to do it quiet. The most difficult one was St Peter, that one was so big I hardly could handly it nearly 50 inches width...............but everything went well _________________ Hans

Hans,
this is off the topic, but how do you do those fancy little signature pictures of your works in progress? I love that!! _________________ WIPS: Carriage House Samplings -- Village of Hawk Run Hollow; Chatelaine -- Mystery X - Victorian Secret Garden; Blue Ribbon Designs -- Happily Ever After wedding sampler |

I make that banners for my signature in a programm called Paint Shop Pro 7.0............I take an image of the piece I'm working on and let is shrink in size (in my case 98 pixels high).................that I make a new image (in my case 400 x 100 pixels) in an backroundcolour I like best..............in that programm you can make layers, so for every line or image i make a new layers in in that layer a paste an image or text...........and by selcting lines and images you can add effect like 3D, some lighting with lamps or sun and all kijnd of things..when I like it I add all layers to one and readyy is my signature..........
If you want me to make something just ask......sent image, and text and maybe I can make siomething nice.also tell me what kind of colours you like to go with it......... _________________ Hans

Where did you find the image of Persian Iris Garden (the finished product) and what do you do, just copy it and paste it? I just wanted to show a pic of that piece to some people in my book group chat, because they wanted to see what it will look like when it's done.
Thanks! _________________ WIPS: Carriage House Samplings -- Village of Hawk Run Hollow; Chatelaine -- Mystery X - Victorian Secret Garden; Blue Ribbon Designs -- Happily Ever After wedding sampler |

Go with cursor to the picture you want, right mouse click, save as.............................and you can upload/download it to your computer............or copy and paste is also possible but I always use right click and Save as:
